With the news of Floyd Mayweather's possible return to boxing from semi retirement, there has been rumors of Floyd's next possibly opponent.

Who would be a good opponent for Floyd in his return?

Who would a guy like PBF tune up against?

    He wouldn't take a tune-up.

That much we know for sure.

I'd love to see him finally fight Sugar Shane, presuming Shane can build upon the Margocheato beating, maybe beating Cotto in a rematch.

    For a "tune-up" I'd say JMM.
He would have to KO him too.

If Pac KO's Hatton sooner than Floyd did, Pac 1-Up'd Floyd
If Floyd KO's JMM and keeps him down, the score is even...

Then they should clash and then FMJ should take on the hopefully unified WW champ sometime next year.

well you cant really say pac would have a one up cuz people could then turn and say hatton was used goods and if floyed brutalizes JMM then people in return could say he was old or used up as well double edged sword

But it evens out again with those excuses:

Floyd brutalizes an old man...but an old man that Pac couldn't brutalize
Pac KO's Floyd's used goods...but at his optimal weight class of 140 WITH new training.

He needs a tune-up and JMM is perfect for that.

Floyd needs a fight that will gain him some respect, a fight with JMM will only leave open more doubt, Floyd should fight Berto and call out Mosley to unify.

    Berto is the perfect tuneup

its the WBC that Floyd loves so much and its a pretty easy fight against a decent name with good handspeed

There is no way in hell that Berto's team would put him in the ring with Floyd. Not to mention he won't be available for July 11.

Its JMM in July, Pac-Hatton winner in November, Mosley-Cotto winner in May, then Williams at 154 in September (which I think PBF loses).

Thats how to truly end a career.

I was actually thinking about that too...but it seems like Berto wants to fight in May and is set to fight Urango.

I think he'll most likely fight either JMM or Mosley. All other options for July are sort of out of the question.

And if he's taking a tune-up...it'll be JMM

What about a tune up against someone like Miguel Cotto? ... just to say if he fights Clottey and beats him, then that would set up a good PPV fight between the two and the winner can fight Hatton.

It can kill two or three birds with one stone --

TopRank can get the chance to promote Mayweather again ...
Floyd can make some money off of they fight ...
Golden Boy & HBO can set it up so Floyd gets the money he wants ...
Floyd can co-promote the fight w/ GBP and TopRank ...
and Floyd can fight some fighters with some credibility ...

Top Rank and GBP are the leading promoters in the game and can make the **** happen.

    Floyd vs JMM or Cotto

the winner can fight the winner of Pacquiao vs Hatton then they can fight for the welterweight championship or at least the p4p championship.

I say Berto so he can get his belt back.

I think that would be a great fight.

Berto reminds me a lil of Floyd, but stronger with a weaker chin
