That Douglas would rip Conn's head off. And Tyson wasn't prepared for that fight at all, Louis was for Conn.
He wasn't prepared because of what? Louis would stop Douglas fairly quickly. Louis came in overconfident and underweighed against Conn, but he still knocked him out.
And actually, Louis was overtrained for that one too. Louis actually fought 6 times (a total of about 45 rounds) in six months before fighting Conn, and then he drained weight to come in below 200lbs. He was already overworked, then handicapped himself, and still KTFO'd Conn. The rematch is what prime Louis vs Conn would look like, even though both were past it by then.
So you've included the 1942 fights when he was out of shape to skew his average And you'd get laughed out of any boxing gym saying Jack Johnson would have a hope in hell against Tyson. It's literally insane to think this.
I think that version of Douglas, outmoves and outboxes Louis. Louis has fought nothing like Douglas. Douglas was like a 235lb, 6'4, 83 inch reach, Billy Conn
He didn't look out of shape to me and he was very effective at that weight. Yes, cause young boxers are the experts of the history of boxing. Nice argument
Technically, he didn't but he faced plenty of rangy boxers: Tommy Farr was only 6'1.5 but had 81 inch reach and he was good, durable boxer. Lou Nova was 6'2, had 75 inch reach and got destroyed. Cesar Brion was 6'2.5 and good boxer, past prime Louis decisioned him twice. Jorge Brescia had identical dimesions to Douglas, although I've never seen him fighting. Besides, Douglas wasn't like Conn at all. He was bigger and slower, Conn's speed troubled Louis.
Douglas-Tyson is the most underrated HW win of all time because of Tyson fanboys excuses. Douglas dominated the fight from round 1 and put on a master class. He then binge ate his way into the Holyfield fight and didn't have the same heart as when he got up in the Tyson fight. Douglas and Conn both used lateral movement to take away their opponents left hook, Douglas had better movement against Tyson than Conn did against Louis. I disagree about speed, Douglas is faster and more athletic than Conn. He's beating Tyson to the punch time and again. Douglas also has a terrific uppercut counter and a right counter which he smashed Tyson with as Tyson came inside. Really Douglas should of been remembered as a great. He only really put it all together for one fight. Boxing was his fathers dream, not his own. He had an eating dissorder, he eventually balooned upto 450lbs and went into a diabetic coma.
Douglas certainly moved around the ring against Tyson much faster, and covered far more distance, than Conn did against Louis, for what it’s worth.
