    I think that for Ireland, it would be better to go a bit further back in time.

    Surely Jack McAuliffe or the Nonpareil Jack Dempsey would have far better claims?

    If we go back to the pre gloved era, then why not Joe Coburn?

    I know that Belfast, where McLarnin was born, was considered a part of Ireland back when Jimmy came into the world ("Northern Ireland" wouldn't exist until after 1922 if memory serves). Was Ireland considered part of the U.K. at the time Jimmy was born??
