The first thing to say about it is that it almost guarantees Greb being captured on film. Second of all, it pits the greatest fighter up until that point against perhaps the most highly regarded HW up until that point and would give a real feel for the era. It would be a defining fight. Third, Greb beat every HW he beat at least once (even if, as in the case of Tunney, he beat him whilst he weighed 175lbs). He was qualified as a HW contender and most in the era saw him as such. Fourth, it would indeed define Greb as the greatest fighter ever should he win or even come close. Fifth, there is less to hold against Dempsey and he becomes nearer to the thing some want to say he is regardless - a fighter that dominated his era (though he still has the Wills problem obviously).
Greb is only rated so highly in this, the Internet era, and the era of his time. Post the end of the second world war, he was very much an after thought; respected, but never in the debate for 'pound for pound' greatest. Even in this era, he is 'only' known by hardcore boxing fans, he would still not be in an 'average' fancy's top 10.
Antonio Cervantes versus; * Bruno Arcari * Wilfred Benitez II (in Columbia) * Roberto Duran * Saensak Muangsurin * Ken Buchanan
Clearly I meant a rematch. I want to see if Ray can beat a legitimate excellent light heavyweight like Maxim before putting him up against a great like Moore. And Burley was regularly making 147 in the late 30's and was probably a more deserving challenger than say, Fritzie Zivic. If Robinson can get a took of flack for not fighting Burley when they weren't in the same division I don't see why Armstrong shouldn't have to best a big welterweight like Burley. Plus Burley probably would have won and a win here, unlike against Robinson, means not just a victory over an all time.great but a world title.
Robinson vs Burley Eder Jofre vs Lionel Rose Holyfield vs Tyson when both were in prime... Lewis vs Bowe Dempsey vs Wills

Ruddock vs any of the heavyweights who ducked him in the 90's not named Tyson and Lewis. Honourable wish? How would Teofilo Stevenson have faired against the late 60's and 70's heavyweight champions and contenders of the era had he turned pro?
