And John as an HOF member... interesting enough, and reasonable,he had a good reign at featherweight, defeated Marquez(although it's controversial,I thought Chris won by a close yet clear decision),he also had names over guys like Oscar Leon(if I'm not wrong it's his name), Derrick Gainer and Rocky Juarez, plus with how the WBA awards him super champion status he deserves it.

I have a feeling he gets in eventually but I'm not sure it happens this year. John was consistently good but not really all that popular because of his style and weightclass.

@AwardedSteak863 This is quite tough for me in all honesty you have some of the little guys like Moon, Roman, who had very good careers. Then you have fighters like John, Michalczewski, who had long reigns but not against the best opposition.

    1. Manny Pacquiao that's a no brainer.

    2. Israel Vazquez very good career so many memorable FOTY candidates, if Gatti is in there for exciting fights then Vazquez certainly deserves a spot.

    3. Nigel Benn/Chris Eubank either of them getting in there would be good for me.

    4. Dariusz Michalczewski he was lineal champion and has the record for the most title defences at Light Heavyweight i believe ?

    5. Gilberto Roman

Some other candidates i think could have arguments to getting in there.....

    Tarver
    Nunn
    John
    Moon

    Vazquez doesn’t have dementia.
The ballots were in before the diagnosis too so that won’t factor in.
I do hope and believe he deserves to go in. Great guy and a hell of a fighter who gave so many great moments.

Five Maske busts in the BHOF seems the least we can do in recognizing the GOAT.

I imagine I'm one of the few who has seen every recorded fight of Michalczewski's. He was a very good, but not great fighter. But that's most of the guys on the list. On paper, he tied Bob Foster's record of 14 defenses of the lineal crown. He rightly earned the title, too, giving a career-best performance against Hill. However, I would say that his resume overall was solid, with, as you highlighted, a number of big names missing. Rocchigiani was bowling him over in the first fight until Michalczewski acted his way out. Michalczewski did adjust in the rematch, though. Griffin, Hall (x2), and Harmon were good scalps, but he didn't look great against the latter two and I think the Griffin stoppage was hometown quick. Outside of those wins, there's a ton of fluff. Gonzalez should have gotten a UD against him, as well.

I would say he's almost as viable as a candidate as Tarver is, but his historical standing is hard to gauge, given the wealth of names who occupied his class, both during his day and after it.

    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Chris John
    3. Dariusz Michalczewski
    4. Mikey Garcia
    5. Tie Gilberto Roman and Veeraphol Sahaprom

To be honest, as compared to some guys in the Hall already, there are a lot of guys on the list who belong in.

You are right, he doesn't have dementia, it's systemic sclerosis (SSc), a rare chronic autoimmune rheumatic disorder that causes degenerative changes to internal organs, as well as the skin. He is also blind in one eye. I could have sworn that I read he was dealing with dementia but couldn't find the article. He has stage 4 Sarcoma which is his most pressing issue.

Manny Pacquiao is a no brainer. Picking the other 4 is tough because there's a bunch of fighters that deserve it and are long overdue.

    Gilberto Roman
    Israel Vazquez
    Michael Nunn
    Meldrick Taylor

I also think Fernando Vargas, Santos Laciar, Sung Kil Moon, Miguel Lora, Yuri Arbachakov, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Dariusz Michaelczewski, Mikkel Kessler, Chris John, Jorge Arce, Joel Casamayor, Veeraphol Sahaprom, Sot Chitalada, and Pongsaklek Wonjongkam should get in eventually.
