Don't think I've ever seen him look that good actually. Looks like those reports of him not working hard for this fight were bull****. Glad to see it. He can have a good career if he dedicates himself.
Still better than not watching it at all :-( Isn't he training with Pascal ? This trainer knows how to get his fighter in shape at least ! Chris Arreola and a few other Heavies should hire him. :hat
War. Just....... war. He'll be looking to make a lot of noise here, Alcine is getting killed. The 'leave on a stretcher' cliché might not be too far from reality. Let's see if his ring IQ has improved in that efforts to pound the opponent's head are better managed this time around. If they are, or if he moves really well getting an opportunity to go for the kill, he's back on the MW map. Fo real.
If e wins, and looks good in doing so, what would you like to see happen as the next step? A Rubio rematch?
Absolute-****in-ly. And if that's not possible i.e. if the Rubio camp dismisses David as "an easy prey" kinda thing, I want to see him up against whatever North American top20 MW who will take the fight. Alcine isn't exactly gonna have his name 'sell' again. He needs a name on his record, right now he doesn't. I say top20 because the top10 @ 160 is very talented, and those guys are after the big fish. Not a guy like Lemieux. Yvon Michel said the pressure from tv networks would have been so huge had David beat Rubio, that Sulaiman & Co would have been forced to mandate Lemieux-Chavez Jr and actually make it happen. That's the ultimate goal for David. Decimate Junior. :hey
Dear lord, I'm a Lemieux's fan but Rubio deserves a shot at the title after he won that eliminatory fight.
Marco Antonio Rubio has 45 KO's in 52 wins. Serious power. Lemieux outboxed him for 6 rounds, gassed himself trying to knock him out and got caught himself by a few heavy punches. It was inexperience and poor conditioning. I really wouldn't read too much into it.
****************************** -During the presser, Lemieux described himself as a transformed fighter. "It'll be a night & day situation. I'm not the same boxer. If you thought I was 'explosive' in the ring, you'll be seeing more of that combined with more strength, more endurance." Aside his new trainer Marc Ramsay, Lemieux seemed motivated by the in-house competition, Antonin Décarie being one of Ramsay's good prospects. ****************************** -A very interesting question was asked by Daniel Cloutier, who said to Ramsay that Lemieux has a habit to begin his fights the same way a horse comes out of the box at a derby. Ramsay said that was a crucial aspect of their recent training camp, which they worked on a lot. Again... War New David.
