Right, right... "Grow up" and join in your circle jerk of people who haven't done crap in their lives criticizing a HOF Boxer for slowing down in the latter part of his career? So tell us exactly what you "know" about this man's personal life and how you "know" it? Tell us exactly what his workouts consist of? Diet? Medical problem(s) that interfere with certain aspects of his training? You "know", right, right... Now you sound like what you are, a critical Internet fool. Selfishly consumed in his own pitifulness. How did Kostya retire? Oscar De La Hoya? Ali? They all kept doing it TOO LONG! It is par for the damned course. Wanna know the difference? In their eras the men who were allegedly "great" or "desiring greatness" personally showed them that they didn't belong in that ring! Toney has been campaigning at HW for how long? Since 2003 (and was always fat) when he beat the brakes off of Holyfield. The man has been running his mouth steadily. The K brothers, Haye, and every other top 15 HW have fought all sorts of bums including bums that got beat by the bums Toney beat! Still, no JT! They have had damn near a decade to shut him up. So he has earned the right to keep talking no matter how crappy he looks. Well there I agree with you whole heartedly. Should he retire? Sure. I think there too we agree. Just like RJJ, Antonio Tarver, Evander Holyfield, Zab Judah, Barrera, Morales, and a whole host of great fighters that are shells of their former selves. That ain't the reality of Boxing though now is it? :nono The issue here is your weak sauce attacks. I swear man Boxing has the WORST "fans" of any high level sport. :blood
Wake up, it is 2011 and James no longer does anything you mentioned for quite some time already (I wouldn't classify a decision over Reed as "kicking butt"). The only thing he still doing well is trashtalking, but without backing it up it is pathetic rather than funny. He should just retire. Holyfield can keep himself in shape and with some luck may get yet another payday, which makes his decision at least understable. Toney doesn't seem to have the drive to fight the best anymore, or even to train properly as you can see on those images.
James barely makes UFC's heavyweight weight limit (265) anymore.. Hopefully that Rampage fight doesn't materialize.
What Toney should be worried about, is what happens to him when he retires, when he's not training, how much water retention he will keep, I mean look at the size of Mike McCallum these days. Almost all Boxer get fat when they retire, or are slightly overweight, but Toney is already fat, then again, a more pressing issue might be, will he get out whilst he can still talk?
The major problem for Toney is the fact that he only trains when he has a fight. As a fighter you should stay in the gym even when you are not fighting. He might not be able to run like he use to but he could at least slim the **** up. He should be no more than 220 on fight night!
From what I've heard he does very little cardio work, and somewhere around 0 roadwork. He does a good amount of sparring, but rarely hits the gas pedal. His skills though allow him to stand in the pocket all nite. At least against smaller guys. A Klitschko right hand will come well past his shoulder roll.
