That's the nearest Ingo wanted to get to him!

Ingo has a punchers chance against anyone who draws breath- Though his courage can be questioned he was after all DQd for... less then valorous conditions in the Olympics. Though this flaw evaporated in the pros as far as I can tell.

From memory Sonny and Ingo never fought due to there friendship, Ingo was one of few to offer a friendly face and open arms to Sonny on his way down. Bless him!

Funny enough Floyd Patterson actually came to see Sonny after his loss to Ali understanding the embarrassment of the situation- Ingo and Floyd Patterson were both perfect gentlemen kind souls indeed.

This was probably a little too close for comfort for him as it was.

Johansen would have given Liston a better fight than Patterson did.

I doubt he could give him as good a fight as Machen, or even Williams. He certainly wouldn't be able to gain the respect of Liston the way the latter did.

Tony Bellew could've given him a better fight than Patterson. If you said to me, that if lasted longer than two minutes vs Liston that I'd get £10m, I think I could run for dear life for that time.

Patterson and Johansson were lifelong friends in retirement. They both ran the New York Marathon in 1985. Floyd was always delighted to remind Ingo he finished nearly an hour ahead of the Swede.

Ingo and Sonny were pals- From memory Ingo helped out a ton in his tour of Sweden. The pride of Sweden did a lot for Charles on his way down he was a class act indeed.

I totally agree that the Ingo Bingo was no joke, Eddie Machen and Floyd Patterson found that out.

I don't think just lasting longer means you gave him a better fight.

A girl told me that she'd rather have two minutes of good than thirty seconds of great.

Just running away isn't good, it's "I want to vomit before during and after, and there's a random overweight old man masturbating in the same room"
