I think he looks very average on film.

He looked good in the Marciano and Satterfield slugfests, those are two of my favorite fights to watch

I'm surprised by how much spring was in his legs after 8 rounds and being knocked down vs Satterfield. Marciano has a hellish body attack

Yeah he followed Goldman's plan,"take away the body and the head will die."Marciano did everything better than Layne didn't he.

Yes, one. Not clear how you feel that backs up your claim that Patterson was still a light heavyweight contender when both the Ring and the NBA were ranking him as a heavyweight.

Layne was damned if he did and damned if he didn't, his trainers were too afraid of Suzie Q to back Layne off and Layne couldn't infight with Marciano's punch power, chin, stamina and short arms

Truly a terrifying matchup for Layne, who did his best. Marciano proved he was a monster in that fight

Lest we forget, Layne was the 2-1 favorite going in!

" His style bothered me.I couldn't get an opening for a clean shot.He hits hard, not as hard as Louis, but hard." Rex Layne after the fight.

I think that was talk, cause Marciano sparked him out cold whilst Louis didn't knock him down (he fought post retirement Louis in an exhibition)
