Does anybody know why he walked away, still undefeated and in his prime, with a promising career ahead of him? I can't find any serious and reputably sourced answers. This content is protected He was a show-stealing mainstay on the undercards of big events for a couple of years. 7x in a row, in fact: on the Lucian Bute vs. Jessie Brinkley, Brian Magee, Jean-Paul Mendy, Glen Johnson, Carl Froch; Pacquiao vs. Mosley; and Pascal vs. Hopkins undercards. Balls-to-the-wall action, each one, for as long as they lasted...with Apou going 7-0 (6) in this run, and the one decision was a shutout w/ a knockdown against Pedro Navarette.
Shame to see a talent like that have its proverbial head mounted on a proverbial spike and become just a cautionary (shaggy-dog) tale.
He said he had chronic fatigue or something. After each training session he'd feel burn out for days, couldn't even get up from bed.Keep in mind he had a day job too, he had to provide for his family, so at some point he had to make a decision. He tried all sorts of things to solve this but unfortunately nothing worked.
Toughest "Sport" even harder than Hockey. They say at least, I believe it because after AM fights I would get horrible whiplash. Cote on a completely different level but I used to miss school days because I couldnt walk properly sonetimes after AM fights. My family said it was just growing pains lol. Wow.. Flashback, it's crazy we have memories stored away like this lol... I completely forgot Cote, I remember when he allegedly broke a fighter's jaw. I think he was pointing at it or something, this was on a Bute undercard maybe?
