This fight is on You Tube if you want to check it out I watched it a couple weeks ago. It was a good one and calling it a draw was a good call.

Up until what stage of the fight was he ahead of Tate and Weaver would you say? I remember the Weaver fight being competitive and Coetzee hurting him but i'm not sure he was ever in control. He was listless against Tate and never looked much good at any point unless i have the wrong fight.

We also should mention tho he flogged the bejesus out of Snipes and received the "Highway Robbery of the Year". Should have been about 8 rounds to Coetzee, and he had a KD or maybe two as well.

I am a die hard Coetzee fan so I admit I am quite biased but I remember the Weaver fight pretty well and had Coetzee ahead on points until the KO. Weaver didnt really do much in the first half of the fight other than take home-run shots from Coetzee and only took over when Coetzee punched himself out.

As for Tate I had Coetzee winning most of the early rounds and some of the mid-rounds, and like the Weaver fight ran out of gas which Tate exploited and dominated the later half of the fight. But as you say, the whole fight was pretty dull.

The Snipes fight was a bad decision (Thanks for the you tube clips) and for the Thomas fight I had Coetzee winning by a point but the draw was fair.

Gerrie Coetzee was highly competitive with some of the best heavyweights of the 80's and I believe would of given Holmes a good fight, even his loosing effort against Page was one hell of a fight!

Hey cheers 101. Great to see a lesser talked about fighter of the 80's with such a keen fan. I'm like that with Page, believe it or not. I've got their fight on tape, it was indeed a top stouch with loads of feeling - to say the least. Page soaked up some shots that left the likes of Dokes prone and it is his finest win and one of his best efforts ever.

I've only watched this fight once and it was ages ago (not totally sure, but think I've maybe got it on vhs somewhere), so far as I can recall I had Thomas by two rounds.

Thanks for the clips. I'll rewatch that one sometime.
