Pinklon Thomas vs Deontay Wilder

I’ll pick Thomas to win a decision but the window when this would have been possible was very short. Probably about 1983 to maybe 1985. Beyond that I think Pinklon was ruined from heroine abuse

 

Yes. And boxing illustrated briefly had Thomas rated as the best heavy in the world if I recall

 

I think he did heroine but it might have been both. Either way it’s a shame he never reached his full potential.

 

I've only watched a handful of Thomas fights, so I don't necessarily remember him as having "one of the best jabs" in the game... May be he did.
But Fury is considered one of the "most skilled boxers" in the game today, and he's much bigger and stronger then Thomas..
And Wilder had him on quear street on multiple occasions, even to the point where Fury needed a long count to save him on one of those times.

I think Wilder could catch Thomas too, and idk if Thomas would be able to keep riding like Fury was

 

Weird cause smaller guys like Johnny Tapia, Aaron Pryor, Pernell Whitaker and others used to like the coke too, but it didn't seem to hold them back any.

 

****ing Mike Tyson probably did more coke than Thomas. We know how that went.

 

Thomas had shitty defense. Did you guys see Weaver catching him? What do you think Wilder does (rhetorical)?

 

I honestly think Wilder might catch him.

 

Tyson 100% used coke while he was the best fighter on the planet and 100% was better than Thomas on Thomas' best day, regardless of if Tyson were clean heading into the fight with Thomas.

Thomas is full of **** anyway and has changed his story a lot regarding drug use. He likely was clean for Witherspoon and Tyson since those fights mattered. He was apparently distracted for the Berbick fight, so I wouldn't be surprised if that meant coke and alcohol. He definitely went back to heroin after Tyson and used it as a teen.
