Fifteen rounds, Madison Square Garden, title on the line. Both on their best day, who takes it?

probably an interesting fight.. I am inclined to picking the late 60's version of Ellis to out point Thomas in a close bought, just as long as Jimmy doesn't get cought in any serious exchanges with Pinklon.. Thomas had a good chin and Ellis wasn't much of a hitter, so I doubt we'd see a knockout..

Thomas would knock him out and then sing with his Reddingesque voice, over him, like a lullaby, as he slept.

I would take Thomas,on points. A notoriously inconsistent fighter, like a lot of his 80s counterparts in the heavy division, but on his best day would be too big and strong for Ellis. Jimmy would be cute enough to avoid too many damaging blows, though.

Thomas, bigger, good puncher, better jab in my opinion.....

Thomas' jab wins it. Close fight though.

I think Jimmy manages to edge Pinklon by a couple of points, or rounds, over 15 at the Garden.

An excellent matchup Shake...I think if the same Thomas that beat Witherspoon with that great Listonesque left jab showed up, he'd beat Ellis by decision. As it's been said, no knockout would occur, intead a tactical sort of match would result, with that great jab of Pinklon scoring effectively and keeping Ellis off his game for 15. Though Thomas never went the 15 round distance, I think he'd do just fine vs Ellis.

The Thomas of '83 and '84 is too powerful and good for the smaller, weaker 1968 to 1971 Ellis..... Ellis would be very defensive minded and not wanting to get nailed at all...... Thomas by TKO in 11 rds......
