The best Thomas who was the so called heir apparent to Larry Holmes vs prime Fury

Since Thomas relies on his jab and long range boxing, and Fury is like 7 inches or so taller and unorthodox and a brilliant boxer himself, I suspect Thomas isn’t getting near him, he’s gonna be stuck on the end of the punches, and since pressure wasn’t part of his arsenal or short punches, he’d be stuck on the end of Fury’s punches the whole fight.

But I think Thomas had too good a chin for Fury to stop him. I agree with everything else.

I think Fury wins a decision here and for reasons already mentioned by other posters. I don’t think Thomas can win a long range jabbing contest with a man who had that much height and reach and wasn’t a bad boxer himself. Also, Pinklon’s prime was very short due to his lifestyle and we really only saw a very small window as to how good he was.

I love Thomas, but I think Fury's size and skill would win him the decision.

I'.wish Fury had been around in the 80 s .
Facing the likes of Witherspoon, Thomas,Dokes,Tubbs.
Those guys at their best were tough and talented.

Mirror this. Fury is all wrong for Pinklon. A skilled man-mountain.

I agree also, the prime, sober Pinklon Thomas would last the distance.

The one who fought Berbick or even Bowe may last the distance if Fury doesn’t go for the finish and is happy to keep it at arms length, but if he goes through the gears, he could overwhelm that version, but prime, sober Pinklon Thomas was sturdy enough and had a good enough defence to last the distance.

A prime Thomas who beat a prime Witherspoon far more comprehensively than Holmes did. Would give Fury all he could handle and then some.

Thomas has an iron chin a great jab and enough right hand power to bother Fury whos been on the deck 6 times from right hands.

People keep talking about Thomas having a short prime....he went undefeated for 7 years.

Thomas would be the 3rd most skilled Heavyweight Fury has ever fought let's put that into perspective.

Pinklon does not have fast enough feet to close the distance. He's a flat footed guy and would need to be a guy on his toes. And it would also require top notch conditioning for him to be constantly moving those feet & an improved skillset to land punches while moving those feet.

No man who is born of his mother and who puts on pants in the morning can defeat the one and only true Gypsy King!

The best version of Thomas could push the envelop here and I wouldn't want to rule him out entirely.

But, if I'm betting, then I back a peak Fury to take a decision.

And if you count prime as skill then he may very well be the second
