no way man. if not for manny, gerry, boomboom, gorres, banal, mayol and jaca will still be fighting other asians in the states for peanuts.

and the 2nd part of your post doesn't make any sense because they DID give him the chance for a title and that mann'y problems with GBP DID NOT affect gerry's chances

if you haven't known yet Thai boxers are already exposed of bottomfeeding and padding their records. they match a thai boxer with a 56-4-0 winloss record to a filipino with 5-10-0 something. they illegally recruit fighters in the philippines and beat them for their amusement, they also use a plaster cast to have a more brutal ending.

we just had one death a few months ago.

GBP won't take Gerry Penaloza seriously ANYMORE? :think Is that a fact? Or just ****? :rofl

STUPID! Don't you realize that GBP just gave Jerry a shot at a title which he won? Now you're saying that GBP won't take Penaloza (a title holder) seriously anymore?

9 post? Whaaaaat? Don't you have the balls to post in your original handle that's why you're hiding in a new one? :D

The Thais have talent but their system of boxing and desire of the promoters to keep their fighters at home does lessent their fighters potential. Pacquiao has brought an American trainer in Roach to help other Pinoy boxers... If Thai boxers could somehow get their fighters to have exposure to other trainers it may help ... Their are good Thail fighters aout there just waiting to do well but they need a system that can fulfill their potential other POngs, Veraphols, Sasakuls are out there if given the opportunity...

Note that I did not say GBP won't take Gerry Penalosa seriously anymore. You're creating your own confusion. I said GBP won't take Manny seriously anymore after becoming a turncoat in favor of Top Rank. But another poster has shown that I'm wrong. GBP in fact still honors Manny and even accepted him as captain or leader of Team Philippines.

I have only 9 posts, sorry. I had an old handle and password that I've totally forgotten.

I think they are tied in the boxing deaths department. Boom Boom Mancini's victim and that other filipino guy who died this year after being smuggled into Thailand for some underground shady outfit.

you know muay thai is not really orginally thai. less credit was given to thai's neighboring countries e.g. cambodia. this is were injustice comes. muay thai was only developed during the 20th century. thailand's neighboring countries weren't able to advertise their martial art because of internal fighting, cvil war etc. because of this, no foreigner ever bothered to go to these countries and learn the martial art. they instead went ot thailand and there the thais went on to claim the sport as originally their own.:deal

also, thais can't beat flips. that's why they bring bums from the philippines to fight their elite fighters. remember lito sisnorio. worst record and still allowed to fight a former champion.

breaking news: during the world university games soccer game between thailand and mexico in bangkok, a brawl erupted. i smell a mexico vs thailand II. the winner becomes no. 1 contender for the next world cup.

Muay Thai has been around alot longer than the 20th century Muay Thai is a variant of Khmer Boxing which originates in cambodia from the Khmer civilisation who contorlled large amounts of Vietnam, laos, cambodia and parts of eastern Thailand between the 10th-13th centurey AD. Pictures of Khmer Boxers are found on the walls of the temples of Angkor.

Muay Thai as which is practiced now in Thailand is a watered down verison of the original sport and is one of the branches. The purest form of K.Boxing is Burmese Boxing or Lethwei which keeping with the orignal rules allows headbutts, Take downs and throws and is fought bare fisted instead of with gloves.

So why does the filipino agree to such fights. I know the money
is the main reson but if you know they fight dirty then why risk your life?

Is there some kind of local war going on between Thais and Pinoys?
For example Thai promorets recruiting Filipino just because of nationality
so their local champions can have additional icing on the cake?

You have to know that the filipino's willingness and their familiarity to travel makes them easy targets for local shady promoters. Korea, Japan, and Thailand have always picked up Filipinos to throw to their prospects since as far as I can remember watching the sport. A lot of our c level fighters struggling financially will ignore the risks just to make a small buck. Sometimes it pays off as in the case of Espinosa and Pacquiao who beat fighters they were not supposed to beat but in most cases it ends up being a mismatch.

If you want an example on how far we would go, just look at Iraq. A lot of Filipinos know the danger involved in working there but you can easily provide for your family if you work there for one year as opposed to working several back home.
