There was a thread on here the other day where a couple of people mentioned that the reason a lot of Pinoys don't like Donaire is because he said he felt Marquez won the second Pacquiao fight. Can anybody confirm if this is true or was it a wind up?
Donaire was a guest commentator for a Pinoy tv station the night of JMM-Pac II. He scored the fight 114-113 for Marquez (exactly as I did). Given how revered Manny is over there, I think Donaire is lucky that some fanatical Pac fan hasn't tried to assassinate him.
It's ****ing mental if it's true. The fight was very, very close and the guy only gave his honest opinion. It's not as if it's a ridiculous scorecard and he is insanely talented. Seriously if they don't want him he's welcome to call himself Scottish, considering some of the footballers we've accepted in the national team over the years I'm sure he'd get crazy support over here!
Exactly. After he gave his score he said it was a very close fight and he thought Pac did the harder punching but he scored it round-by-round and had Marquez ahead. How anyone can hold that against him is crazy - it's not as if he's been pictured wearing a "Marquez beat Pacquiao twice" t-shirt! Haha - if one photo appears on the net of Nonito taking a swig from a bottle of Irn Bru, we'll probably put his face on a ****ing stamp!
damn!! theres many crazy people out there. People like that are not boxing fans but crazy pacquiao fanatics. Like the pope is not catholic but a pedophile
So basically what you're trying to imply is to anyone who scored the fight for Manny is not being honest? :rofl
are you ******ed? he is saying "in his honest opinion." people dont always have the same opinion as people are different but that doesnt mean that people cant respect other peoples opinion even if it different to their own. thats what is wrong with this forum at the moment
fair play to donaire. and people shouldnt hate him for being honest. manny won the first but got robbed of the win. marquez just lost the 2nd but got given a draw in the first fight. it could and should be settled. but manny is more effective higher up the weights, marquez less so and more inefective at 140 plus. manny has also improved a lot,i dont see how marquez's style has changed much since pac 2nd fight. infact marquez has fought small/same size brawlers while pac has fought big brawlers and tough boxer punchers.
:huh No, I scored the fight to Pac by a point, with the knockdown making the difference. What I'm saying is that Donaire felt that Marquez won the fight by a point and he was honest enough to give his true opinion on the matter yet he catches **** off his countrymen for it.
If he gets hate for that it's ridiculous. Giving a reasonable score for a very close to call fight is totally fair
wow are you people really that stupid? You all got trolled by Kush (who is Mexican btw) and ya'll are taking it as to fact. Who gives a **** if some Pinoys dont root for Donaire some are fans of the sport and not fans of a nationality. Is it odd if a Mexican roots against another Mexican? Or how bout if a Brit roots against another Brit? My reasons for not liking Donaire were given in the thread and none was how he scored Jmm/Pac II I also find him boring to watch much of the time.
I don't think it's just because of that. It's MAYBE because he's brash and cocky sometimes, which is generally looked down in Filipino culture. I remember him trash talk Brian Viloria who is another Filipino. That's just one there are other instances I forgot maybe some of the Donaire haters can fill in.
Viloria schooled Nonito and his brother's ass in the U.S olympic trials. Nonito is still sore about it and talked a lot of **** about him because Viloria went on to win a championship years before Donaire beat Darchinyan. Donaire became quiet about it after Darchinyan which shows it was all jealousy. Now the fool wants to brag about how great he is. :verysad
