There's the argument Hearns may have punched harder. But Cuevas broke bones when he landed cleanly on many fighters. Hearns didn't do that. Cuevas for me was the hardest punching welter in history. Hearns a close 2nd.
Fight I'd have like to seen was a prime Pipino Cuevas vs Henry Armstrong.. Can Hammerin Hank come straight at Cuevas? Armstrong is the better overall fighter but coming to Pipino is playing Russian roulette
Actually that would be the best place to be against Cuevas, in close, wrestling for position, nullifying that hook . Cuevas probably ko's any welterweight in history he hits clean with max force .
I hope he swung a compact left hook at a piñata to celebrate and broke someone’s jaw on the follow-through. Pipino is the only guy below heavyweight I’ve ever heard of breaking the buckle/connector on a speed bag with a single punch. I’ve read about Foreman and Shavers doing it, and Pipino did it as a welter.
I don't know about that and I'm a huge Hearns fan. Pipino BROKE bones on multiple boxers. And I think if memory serves me right it was with BOTH hands. Hearns righthand was a huge punch as was Cuevas hook but I think Cuevas could get you out of there with either hand.
