I watched some Cuevas fights on youtube last night and wondered how PacMan and Floyd would cope with his raw power. Any thoughts?
UD for Mayweather. Big, frightening punchers cause panic and anxiety -- they aren't effective against men who have the poise and calm to sail the waves and come out the other end unharmed. I'd also make Manny a favorite. He has good feet, a venemous cobra strike of a left straight and he showed against Margarito, Cotto and the corpse of ODLH that he's hard to hit clean at this weight. Also Cotto had troube seeing his punches since he has that ****ed-up rythm and good handspeed -- this might or might not trouble Cuevas. Chavez vs Cuevas would be harder to pick, since Chavez does his best work up close. Pacquiao leaps from outside.
Against Floyd he gets beat up, with a very slim punchers chance, against Manny I give him the edge to win by KO
Pipino blasts both. Of the two, Mayweather fares better, and lasts a while with his skill, but the accrued effect of punishment from the Mexican Foreman eventually adds up...to Floyd being too damaged to continue. Pac, the conqueror of corpses, is simply too small for Pipino. It's not a question of lack of skill. Both have plenty of it, but Cuevas is a merciless basher and neither Floyd nor Manny have tasted this kind of nonstop brutality.
