Lets say Pirog never had that back injury and was 100% healthy who would have won that fight back when it was being talked about and why?

Would have been a good fight, think Pirog would have been very competitive, not sure who would have won.

Not sure that's a hard call

Pirog's lack of a tight guard could be costly against Golovkin. He will need to be at his best as far as head movement is concerned to dodge Golovkin.

GGG Beats the Brakes Off Pirog...In Fact, Golovkin Knocks the "G" From Pirog's Last Name...Pirog Would Forever Be Known as "Piro" & Golovkin Would Be "QUADRUPLE G"...

Really hard fight to pick Pirog was tall long arms had more of an American style he moved well a good athlete had good jab speed and pop. He might have posed GGG some problems because of this.

Ggg very hittable its being to keep him off you for 12 rounds thats the problem.

    50-50 for me.
A healthy Dmitry Pirog is the only fighter at 160lbs who i would even think about picking over GGG.
Even then, it's a big maybe.

Real tough call. Probably back in late 2012 I might have been leaning towards Pirog. Now I'd probably pick Golovkin.

It'd be a great fight and I can easily see Pirogs length and movement giving Golovkin problems, but both guys are pressure fighters and I think Golovkins power favours him coming forward. That said, Pirogs kinda slippery pressure might be just the style to trouble GGG - someone who'd take the fight to GGG but without standing in front of him.

Damn shame this one never happened.

Pirog was slick as ****, was rangy and had good power.

IMO fight starts of cautious for 2 rounds, then Pirog slowly starts taking advantage of GGG impatience and aggression picking him apart for a good 3 rounds maybe even stunning him once or twice.

Then GGG calms down and starts boxing more, fight gets more competitive and soon GGG starts nullifying Pirog with sound body punches, over the next couple of rounds things gradually get worse for Pirog. Around round 9 Pirog starts droping his hands more cus of them bodyshots and BOOM a triple G left hook puts him down.

He gets up but GGG too good of a finisher to let Pirog survive and wins by TKO 9.

scorecards would be like 4 rounds for Pirog, 5 for GGG plus knockdown.

In the beginning I thought Pirog, but I think GGG improved since when Pirog was active, I'll say GGG now, I think Pirog is probably a bit too slow to handle Golovkin for 12 rounds.

I was quite the fan of pirog. I really hoped he'd shake up the division. I'd have def picked him over Sergio at that point.
