I'm a fan. I think the man has skills, and I'm liable to think that if a brick hit him in the face, he wouldn't so much as flinch. His punch resistance is relatively unproven, but when you have these guys at like 14-0, it's usually because they've been brought up easy but this Pirog guy has been facing and knocking out guys with good records the last year or two.
Agreed. Pirog and SNV double-handedly smash the myth of "Euro level" stereotypes. This content is protected
Tatevosyan, Chirkov, Kodzoev, Toygonbaev, Jantuah are all solid fighters. He has a very respectable resume for 16 fights. Tatevosyan was the Russian MW Champ and Pirog beat him in only his 4th pro fight. It's a Papakha, traditional hat.
Vysotsky is right. Pirog has fought stellar competition considering the a amount of fights. Abraham fought Jantuah in his 21st fight and it was fairly competitive. Pirog fough him in his 14th fight and completely shut him out.
I think this guy is a bad man. His style must be murder to face, takes a great shot and seemingly has concussive power himself...had skills too, good upperbody movement and nice variation of punches.
I'm a fan now. He stole the show tonight. Pirog has real ring intelligence, he isn't scared to get close and mix it up with his opponent. I think if Pirog had more speed, he would be extremely hard to beat. I think a speedy slick boxer will beat him to a UD but it will not be easy. To be honest, when I saw Pirog, I thought to myself "WHAT? This wimpy looking pale kid is undefeated? Jacob will smoke him" Boy looks can be deceiving.
I can see people just overrating a fighter's power based on this fight. Come on, he caught Jacobs coming in. This happens with EVERYONE. Including AA's power. Margarito and Andrade's chin, etc. One fight does not PROVE you have great power or not.
Everybody's talking about his power, but the thing I love about him is he's slick as can be, and he made Jacobs miss alot of head shots. As Emmanuel Steward said, Pirog is old school...He set that up beautifully by switching stances as he followed Jacobs to the ropes, and he said he knew that punch would be there after he rocked Jacobs with the one-two in the second round.
Ill be honest, i really liked everything about Pirog.... seemed like a right badass tonight. I dont care about his power.... i like his movement, his aggressive demeanor in there, his style of fighting... Glad i tuned in on him. That being said... Jacobs went a bit higher for me tonight in his estimation as well, he showed some class in defeat (EVERYONE will use excuses, its how fighters come back another day) but how he showed so much love to his family and all that... idk... just kinda felt for him. Hope to see him back too :good
I loved his head movement the most. He slipped most of jacobs punches all night. Jacobs can blame the lost on his grandma's death all he wants, but I think GBP and Jacobs underrated this man. Big ups for him. I can't to see him again.
Pirog does look like one hardarse russian. Pirog is definitely underrated. Danny looked off, Emmanual had a point where he said Danny can't influence his opponants attack. Scary mother****erin russian. Looks like a harder Kessler.
