WBO middleweight champion Dmitriy Pirog has slammed WBC counterpart Sergio Martinez for considering a showdown with far smaller Filipino Manny Pacquiao and told the Argentine he should meet him in a unification clash instead. Its definitely not a really fair fight, Pirog said regarding Martinez-Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao fought Antonio Margarito and it was a good fight but when one guy is a lot bigger, its not very professional. A great fight for Martinez would be against someone in his own weight category, like me. Boxing was not created for catchweight contests, Pacquiao cant make middleweight ever. A better fight for him would be against Juan Manuel Marquez.
Heey he finally speaks! I really like Piroq thought he dissapeared, but he is right, they should fight eachother and then the winner faces sturm so there can be a unification bout for the middleweight title, pirog vs martinez would be one of 2011 best fights.
Martinez-Pirog would be a good match, but I've been reading Martinez may get Cotto at 155 CW or Andy Lee. I'd rather Pirog then a unification with Sturm
no surprise here. pirog is kind of in no man's land b/c he has a strap after a brilliant ko, but no one outside of this board knows who he is and the mw division lacks any recognizable names other than martinez. (williams is not a mw and kelly is trying to get right) martinez on the other hand is in his mid 30's, doesnt have all the time in the world, and...just like everyone else....wants that monster payday you get when you fight pac. i'm just glad to hear pirog speak. hopefully we see him in the ring soon. and i concur w/ pimp, i would love to see martinez/pirog
I think Martinez deserves a good money fight, but like Williams I really believe Sergio won't say no to a challenge and will fight Pirog eventually. FOTY if that happens.
Pirog is still unproven, and unknown!! Yeah yeah he holds a belt, big deal!! Martinez could get better and bigger fights earning more money fighting other guys. You wanna piece of Martinez, don't act all high and mighty 'cause you hold a piece of the belt and beat (who??) Jacobs. Fight other, better opposition first... Fight Sturm 'cause both are used to fight medium level opponents, it's a good way for both to step up... winner fights Martinez!!

Yep, he's being made out to be some kind of monster based on the Jacobs fight. I'd like to see him actually fight someone first. A Sturm fight is a good idea.
