in all seriousness this would have been a great fight. Pirog has some serious skills and GGG serious power. It will be interesting to see who steps in and takes his place.
Pirog had a back injury and fought with it against Maciel, hence why he looked so flat and uninspired. Ever since then he's had a chiropractor as a perminant part of his team. Seems to be a ongoing issue. If Pavlik wins i wonder if he would be willing to fight Golovkin. He would have around 7 weeks to prepare and although Golovkin walks around at 160 and is a small MW he has said he would fight anyone 154-168. I bet he would be okay with Pavlik coming in at 164 or 166 or something. N'jikam ducked Golovkin 4 times then dropped his WBA Interm belt to avoid a fight when the WBA was finally trying to force him. Needless to say i don't see him taking that fight now. Lara is always running his mouth i would love to see him offered the fight and see if he is actually willing to back it up. Pavlik, Lara, Macklin, Murray would all be very good replacements imo. Quillin is guarenteed HBO air time so even though Golovkin has belts i suspect he would look for an easier route.
Wow, the amount of spastics on this site. atsch Just signing this fight has potentially made Pirog lose his title. Why the **** would he sign to fight him unless he planned on going ahead with it? He has absolutely nothing to gain and a title to lose by taking that course of action. This is just an extremely unfortunate set of circumstances. Fight excited me more than any other fight this year. Everybody loses. People should take a brief moment to think before they make ridiculous claims of ducking etc.
This is devastating, was looking forward to this fight more than any other this year ... hope Golovkin still gets a tv date against someone worth fighting.
