From russia last night. Pirod UD. If anyone wants to have a peep... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SawPOmTM6j4&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/ame]
Geale had to have been smiling watching that. Ishida didn't earn many rounds on my card, but he made Pirog uncomfortable with nothing but volume and resiliency.
Don't me wrong jet, it will go the distance but I think I will go the same as geales last two fights.... Out working the slow bloke in front of him
Mentioned some things in another thread, but i agree, speed is one area geale has over him. But pirog puts an enormous amount of pressure on his opponents, and every punch is accurate and lands flush...not big one punch power, but he stings and breaks guys down. Geale needs to fight him long, andnot allow pirog to get to his body...once in range, pirog loves working under and over. Its a big job to keep him at bay but ishida showed to some extent that height and length can tame pirog a bit.
Joe C should have called it a day post Kessler Fight but the yanks wanted him to dry hump Hopkins first and payed him very well indeed when he obliged, the Roy fight was just Joe helping Roy out and they spilt the pot 50-50 , Joe knew he was finished after he fought Mikkel . Geale should be busting his balls attempting to secure the Pirog fight because as you say his speed will soon be gone and it won't be coming back .
I know pirogs recent level of opposition has been "safe"..... But check out how he gets to the body and head. He is a very cagey mover and finds a way to land down stairs and upstairs. He is a picture perfect puncher too, great form on his shots....he is a very well oiled machine. Geale is a step up and has a game that can give pirog a hard fight. its going to require an absolute a-game .....but he can do it! War gealey!
Nice breakdown. My only concern is the amount of energy Geale expends with workrate and movement. He seems to come home tired and drop his hands, leaving him exposed to a KO. Even more risk with Martinez if it ever occurs since he's been patiently waiting for late round KO's in his last couple of fights.
Hmmm, maybe. I actully think geales stamina and footwork over 12 rds is a really big strength of his at middleweight. He holds it together really well and thats a big plus v pirog. The flipside is that pirog can do the same. Looking forward to seeing it play out.
Geale has never even come close to being tired in 12 rounds. If you've noticed his hands lower it's because he's in his comfort zone. Stamina is Probably Geales strongest asset.
