On the scene theres a story about a possible fiight between Pirog and Ishida How amazing is this sport. You can loose a fight convincingly and still get a world title shot. Brilliant!! He got thrown into the mix becasue he upset Kirkland which is fair enough. If you ko and good prospect like him then you deserve some kind of a big fight but he had that against Williams. I know we all hate Cleverly's choice of opponent but this is quite frankly just as bad. (well maybe not quite as bad as that utter horse shite but its still pretty toss)
TBF, he did get screwed out of a world title in Mexico against Rigo Alvarez his previous time out before upsetting Kirkland. Still, based on recent form he doesn't come close to deserving a shot at Pirog for a MW title. (and besides, the Alvarez fight was going on two years ago and at a lower weight). The Kirkland KO and being decisively beaten by Williams are really all there is on which to base a middleweight ranking for Ishida. They just don't add up to "title shot coming off the loss", nope.
Ishida might have problems I think im right in saying the Japanese boxing comission doesnt recognise the WBO?
Nkosinathi Joyi will defending his IBF belt against a Jap this week. I think they don't sanction any fights in Japan but if it's abroad there's not much the Jap board can do.
In all fairness there is more undeserving fighters getting shots all the time. Hatton Alvarez WBC Lightmiddleweight comes to mind Its just the way the sport is. Although i hate it. We have to support it or the sport will die. We are kind of trapped into this!! If you dont play ball you wont get anywhere in this business. Thats why promoters wont change and the sport wont ever change! As fans all we can do i sbuy PPV and support the fights
at least the guy is somewhat known unlike cleverlys opponent who I have never heard of before or is it just me.
I knew of him as Haxhi Krasniqi, Luan's little brother who gets the odd gift now and then cause he's not good enough to convincingly beat journeymen. He is only 24 though so that might of changed......his name has anyway.
He is Luan's nephew, not his brother. And, what gifts did he get? :think I know some people had Hakim Zoulikha ahead at the time of the stoppage, but Robin/Haxhi was up by a point on my card. And it wasn't a gift stoppage. He had the Frenchman out on his feet.
