I was just thinking about the Great fighters from the steel city, Burley,Grebb,Zivic,Conn,Spadafora..What about the heavier guys.Conn had some good wins at Heavy..Can any Knowledgeable classic posters tell me about Heavyweights from the region who were popular or gave any greats a tough scrap? they dont have to be great jus very good.or good Journymen?

Frank Moran. A " white hope " with fair ability. He went 20 with Jack Johnson in a title fight. I have seen all 20 rounds. It was a close fight. Moran made a good showing for sure, but IMO lost by a close margin.

Bob Baker a top heavyweight contender during marcianos era. 6'2 220lb with fast handspeed excellent skills, and had pop in his fists. baker is probably the best one i can think of. some believe he was a threat to marciano

Sorry if this is a no brainer, but Michael Moorer is from Monnesson, PA which is well within the Pittsburgh area.
