Do you guys ever pivot off the back foot to change directions? I know it leaves you vulnerable for a split second and puts you in a SP stance but I find it that if it's done correctly it can be very useful.
Not sure what you mean? Plant the rear foot and move the front foot? It works if you have length and/or fast feet. If you make it a habit and a guy is longer or faster than you it could get you caught with your rear hand forward and your lead had giving you shoddy defense.
I will on ocassions. gotta do it as fast as you throw a punch though. sometimes if i get up on the ropes i'll pivot and square up like im about to go left, then i'll dip and slip right usually under a hook and next thing ya know your beside em with them looking at the ropes. and i'll follow it up with a hook, right, and either a hook or jab. AMAZING
Speed kills lol. I have power to hurt but its not like every punch i throw can back you up. I feel speed is my greatest asset as i'm not super tall and dont have a massive reach. but when i started i used to watch mayweather ALL the time and his feet were like a cat. so before i even had my first fight i wanted that ability. So i've always used leg weights once or twice a week, and a year ago i added a 20 lb vest. I'll wear them for my whole gym workout aside from sparring once or twice a week. woks wonders!!
