No i just don't see it happening..

He will get some success, it's not hard to against Pavlik. But the Ghost will wear him down. TKO 10.

Martinez will make Pavlik upset and then Pavlik will KO Martinez.

    Lol.

Yeah, I gotta vote "no". I like Martinez a lot, but I dunno. I don't think he'll be able to pull it off. Wish he would tho, that would make things very interesting in the division.

  8. Is it really an upset?? Martinez is by far the better boxer of the two.

In order to be "a better boxer" than Pavlik you would have to be good enough to score a UD over a peak, or near peak, Jermain Taylor. Now, make me a list of all the fighters of that quality that Martinez beat.

Good point. I think what makes Martinez a better boxer than he should be is that he's pretty akward to fight.

And yea the fact Pavlik did get a UD over Taylor said alot about his boxing ability.

I think the general boxing world would see this as at least some sort of upset.

I mean Pavlik is still the undefeated at middleweight lineal champ.

TBH, with so many of my favourite predictors going for Martinez, I no longer consider Martinez winning an upset.

It just seems a bit odd. I mean, Pavlik is big BIG, carries a hefty punch. He throws in good volume too.

Martinez is as good of a slick boxer as you can find, he has faster hands than... all welter weights out there, good footspeed. And in his last fights, he really showed good power. But his style is a bit too exposed.

Now... Pavlik is nowhere near the boxer that is Williams, but he does throw right hands, he is active with the jab and his physical advantage being so big... Can't predict, can't wait for this fight to happen.

BTW, Taylor isn't really a slick boxer, he doesn't have the movement of a Martinez. Pavlik was faced with movement once and we all know how that went. But if it's true that he did suffer from bronchitis days before the fight, then really, could very well see Pavlik being bellow 70% going into that fight. So it's all to prove for him now that he can fight boxers and beat them.

Like PFG just wrote, Martinez is really the only second high quality "mover" that Pavlik has faced. But, I think Pavlik gets him out of there in 10, but I'll be cheering for Martinez.
