I've posted this before. Watch the early in between round footage where he goes to blow his nose and has a foot of mucus hanging before they get the towel there. He should not have been in the ring against anyone that night. This really isn't hard for people that want to know.

I do not think we will see many surpises in this fight. Martiinez will look good in the first 4 rounds or so. He'll probably win a couple and lose a couple. As the fight progresses Kelly's defense will tighten up. His timing will get better. Sergio will start feeling the effects of Pavlik's pressure. KP will start finding a home for a variety of punches both inside and outside. Once KP starts landing regularly he'll close the show. I got KP in 8 rounds.

The only way I see Martinez losing is to biased judging. Maybe by the 8th round Pavlik will start to catch up to Martinez...but I think the speed disparity is going to really hurt Pavlik in this one.
Also, Martinez and his coach were very good at ad******g to the fight through the rounds, I'm not sure I can say the same for Pavlik and Co.

It will be interesting to see how in unfolds. Kelly's sparring partners said they told Kelly everything he throws hurts so touch him anywhere, it doesn't matter. Arms, shoulders, body..... Never been in that situation so I do wonder how that affects a fighters psyche? You have the flight reaction for sure, but if Kelly starts cutting off the ring then flight equals pain too. I guess that would explain why some guys still get trapped in corners when they should know better? You know mentally you have to escape but your reflexes won't let you endure the pain that would entail?

Pavlik's pressure is less troubling than P-dubs pressure. Pavlik is a very simplistic 1-2 guy but he does better pick his shots then paul. He does bring his power,Sergio knows the this, and will fights to his athletic ability. You might see his hands down, but he rolls the punches well and it's his offensive ploy. It works for him and it works for him well.Kellys style lends to him getting his from angled shots rather easily. Pavilk not a great mover... He just comes forward to press, jabs for measure, and hopes to land the big right hand. Sergio dec

Well we know Martinez has been in there with guys that have heavy hands until the end, and he folded against the best one he was against in margarito, but that was a long time ago against someone who mightve used illegal hand wraps.

Either way Pavlik im sure hits harder than Margarito by default (ww vs mw) and Pavlik carries his Ko power at least till the tenth (I say that cause he has no ko's past the 9th round), so this is why I have to go with a late Pavlik Ko, although I see the scorecards being even when the Ko happens.

It will be an exciting fight until the end.

I hope so. Martinez stood his ground well enough against Pdub, but I'm just not sure he can with Kelly.

well, as many people have pointed out, kelly beats people down not only w/ power but with accumulation of shots. so, based on that, his 86% ko ratio (as a result of said accumulation of shots) would suggest that his pressure is going to be more than troubling.

contrarily, williams pressure is exactly what got him into trouble. williams was way way out of position a lot of the time after he let his hands go and was wide open for counters. re-watch that fight, williams had serigo by a good 3+ inches but wound up eye level with him at many points. staying in control and staying balanced, combined w/ williams workrate and stamina would have made that a very one sided affair instead of the nail biter it was.

Go watch the exchanges between Williams and Martinez in the 5th round. If we take Pdub out, and insert Pav, Martinez does no make it out of the round.

so did williams...after first training to fight a heavy handed bull like kelly. and lets not forget that, while kelly is open to being hit, martinez has also been kd in the first round when he's presumably at his freshest as opposed to later on in the fight when he typically fades.
