"It should be a match of epic proportions, but instead it's dying an agonisingly slow and painful death. Promoters already returned $2 million of the $11 million site fee that Planet Hollywood owner Robert Earl had paid. Earl's looking at a loss of an easy $5 million, perhaps more."

**** that really sucks considering its the Americans who say Joe 'must' fight over there pfff....So basically Joe must fight in a country that doesn't want nor like him to prove himself at a reduced rate all the while his promoters and so forth lose money even though they'd all make what they needed fighting here in the UK?

    Politics sucks dick.

this fight should've definately been in wales.....hopkins has no real fans here in the us......

it would've been a ****en event if it would've happened over there...but for some reason, some dumb ass americans wont give any euro creds unless he has fought over here.......WHICH IS ****EN STUPID

i don't know what they charge in wales, but big fight ticket costs are outrageous in the us. with calzaghe not being known by the average american, probably gonna be less people willing to shell out the money. the fight would've probably been better staged in Atlantic City with it's proximity to philly even tho his philly fan base isn't tremendous there'd definitely be a lot more people buying tickets.

US 'fans' to Joe: 'You have always been protected and never fought in the US. Come here to us and let's see how well you can perform in L.V. vs a true legend!'

Me to the US fans: He's there as you've asked so GO AND BUY A F*KING TICKET YOU ****S, AT LEAST TO ROOT FOR YOUR LEGEND OR TO ROOT AGAINST JOE!

This 'fighting in the US' is all bullsh*t. Hopkins' got 600 paying fans and I doubt that more than 50 would make a trip to the UK. Calzaghe's got 50.000 paying fans and a few thosand are crossing the ocean to make the Thomas and Mack half packed. But 6000 + 600 is a joke and not because of the Welsh or British. Hopkins doesn't have any support in his OWN country, only a few hundred US fans will make a trip to the desert and they are talking about how Las Vegas is boxing's Mecca?

Joe Calzaghe packed 50.000 paying fans the last time. What an idiotic sport boxing is if he has to fight before 6.600 for this so-called "US recognition" - and 6000 of them are the same hard-core fans of him. :patsch :patsch :patsch

But where the hell are THOSE who criticized Joe?

Crock of ****. Holding it in Vegas made absolutely no sense. The fight should've taken place in Wales, or if it was going to be the US, somewhere on the east coast in order to make it closer to Hopkins' fanbase and a shorter flight for Calzaghe's fans making the trip. But Vegas? ****, at least Joe will be happy he got to fight there once, but other than that, I don't see any benefit to it being held there.

Hopkins cannot sell tickets or PPV. This fight should have had a cheaper site fee, ticket prices or held in Wales. OR Hopkins (as a partner in Golden Boy) should take a cut in pay.
    Maybe he has.

Boxing isn't that big in the States. Furthermore, Hopkins doesn't have a fan base in Vegas. The fight should've been at MSG or A.C

Hilarious. The Americans gob off about Calzaghe being a homeboy, and how he should come over and fight their 'legends' yet they sell 600 tickets

So sad. Except for the HW class, Mayweather and Pavlik, boxing will never draw a lot in U.S, unless the tickets are really low.

Really, time for american fan boys to wake up. UFC also has taken a large chunk of fight enthusiast's.(those willing to pay tickets, that is).

Listen, Bernard doesn't sell fights at all. His two biggest fights Tito and Hoya he wasn't the draw. If this was Roy and Calzaghe different story it would have sold out and many Brits would had came to my city. Yes politcis suck in boxing. And he wanted to have this fight a Yankee Stadium.
