I suppose Hopkins ain't bothered by the money or surely he would have gone to the UK? Or was it just an epic ****-up?

Both fighters are getting about $10 million for this fight. I don't think Joe regrets his decision to fight here.

Its not just politics. Hopkins is far from exciting to watch. No one wants to pay $300-400 for a fight just to watch a chess match that they dont undrestand and thats Hopkins style.
Joe has an entertaining style but unfortunately he has come to US a little too late in his career. He could've been huge here but right now no one knows him.

I was in Vegas for a conference and was able to catch some of the Hopkins and Calzaghe work out session at Planet Hollywood. Calzaghe worked out 12-1 and Hopkins 1-2. I saw Hopkins workout, he fumbled on the ropes quite a few times. He talked to the media for about 40 mts and did a quick 10mts workout for the public and just vanished as soon as his work out was done. Hopkins was very distant with the fans.

I missed Calzaghe because I had to be in meetings. But I was told by folks there, Joe on the other hand did a proper work out for the fans. He went around met the fans signed autographs for them very down to earth. Going in I supported Hopkins but came out rooting for Calzaghe. For a fight of this magnitude I was surprised to see there were barely 75-100 people there.

The other reason maybe this fight isnt selling is cuz people want to watch MMA this weekend.

    This is the case because:

1.) Hopkins has always been an underrated fighter and therefore is not the draw.
2.) USA does not care for boxing. Sorry, but it's the truth.
3.) Due to #2, nobody over here knows Joe.

the reason this fight is bombing is because they are charging INSANE prices for even the cheapest ($250) tickets. That is just ridiculous. Why not open the fight up and make it available to the public? They could have filled this place up if there were some reasonable tickets available for boxing fans, instead of charging ringside prices for every seat. I think that's what they are doing for the Delahoya vs Forbes fight, and considering neither man is a big draw in the US, it's what should have been done here. Probably could have made some money on the event instead scaring people off with ticket prices.

And no one cares about Hopkins. Hopkins doesn't have much U.S media draw, he is that ****ing boring(!!!!), racist, ugly, gap toothed, ex con.

Fans know if they want to see shitty fights, pay 50.00 $ to watch the PPV, or hundreds to thousands to watch Hopkins fight live.

No, Hopkins and Calzaghe are getting the same amount of money, and if I'm correct, $9MIL is the OVERALL money and the promoters' fee is included in that as well... I'd say 4-4 million for both but it's possible that I've just misunderstood and there's more than $9MIL is in the hat.

As Jack said. Hopkins is not fun to watch.

Nor was Calzaghe against Kessler to be totally honest with you. This fight is going to suck dick. And it looks like Joe Casual has it figured out which quite frankly surprises me.

Unfortunately this is true! Hardcore American fans are not that many. Boxing in the US isn't as popular as it once was...it takes a back seat to GOLF for christ sakes.

But the truth of the matter still remains that Joe needed to do this....why? B/c Joe as of late, has been trying to push and test his skills and talents. It's been a long time comming....this is the last stop for him to prove what he has thought about himself for years.

And I know Joe is a legit champion and a great boxer...unfortunately he has done next to nothing to prove that. We get this feeling we are watching greatness b/c of how he preforms...unfortunatley he is suppose to look good against C and B level opposition.

While the numbers are heidious the fact that Joe took this step says a lot about his heart and determination to be the best and not just vocalize but SHOW! Props to Joe. He should walk away with a "W" agaisnt Popkins.
