    Hi all
Just a wondering really, am i the only one who doesnt plan their workouts? I would say im fitter than most and my workouts are pretty hard but what i mean is i dont sit down and think right this week im going to do this this or this?? I tend to just think what do i need to do today and do it? Just wondering if im on my own in this way. I was thinking maybe i should really sit down and start planning my workouts for the whole week but i never bother. ( if it aint broke dont fix it sort of thing)

Just wondering what your oppinions are, maybe i should start planning better.

Apart from boxing days I don't plan either, it depends on my mood and the weather.

Far from actually. I don't plan my diet either, it depends on the last meal, my mood, the contents of my fridge, past of future activities, etc. :)

I would agree, I plan nothing. Just run when I feel like it, eat healthy but no meal plans etc. for instance ive had chicken 4 times in 4 days. Do weights when I feel like it, the only regimented thing is when I go to the gym and get trained. As long as I do certain things enough times a week I'm happy with myself.

Back when i was training i had a rough outline of what i was gonna do e.g

Monday: Boxing - includes sparring, skills, pads etc finish off with a sprint/bodyweight circuit or a 3-5 mile run

Tuesday: strength training - my preferred method was sandbag training, only because i found barbells boring

    Wednesday: same as monday

Thursday: a very hard conditioning circuit (usually from one of the ross enamait books i purchased)

Friday: same as monday and wednesday

    Saturday: Plyometrics

Planning is very important if you want to get to the next level. Just because you are the best man in the gym doesn't mean you are good enough. Go to another gym and you will find out you are the worst. Getting better is hard to do and takes a huge amount of effort. If you expend a huge amount of effort without a plan, you will waste a huge amount of time.

I let my trainer do that, he tells me what to do and I just go ahead and do it

Indeed. Out of 7 week days, 5 are gym days so I have no influence there. I keep it as general as possible on the other two. I have rules to abide, just like my diet. No planning does not mean no methodology.

I think i agree now. up to now no plan has worked for me but i do think now its time to take it to the next level and i feel that should be planned carefully as you say. Just dont even know where to begin. Whenever i plan something , something gets left out lol. Think i will have a sit down next weekend and plan it all out including diet. Must admit its been a rough couple weeks ( we lost my gran on last monday ) so iv lost it a bit. But i watched the Froch Taylor fight and i feel all of a sudden like my focus is back! Funny thing life :good
