Quite shocked actually. Didn't expect it realistically.

    From the Sun:
    Source: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...r-Khan-could-be-back-in-just-eight-weeks.html
AMIR KHAN is feeling just gr-eight after his American dream became a red-hot reality here.

Khan plans to be back ready for action just eight weeks after his 11th-round destruction of Paulie Malignaggi at New York's Madison Square Garden.
London's O2 Arena and Manchester's MEN Arena have been pencilled in as possible venues for the next defence of Khan's WBA world light-welterweight title.

And negotiations should start soon with Aussie puncher Michael Katsidis, who clobbered Kevin Mitchell at Upton Park on Saturday night.

The MEN is available on both of the proposed dates, July 24 and July 31, while the O2 has a free spot on July 31.

Khan, 23, earned close to £2million for his New York debut against Malignaggi at the weekend - and his pro bouts have generated about £15m to date.
He wants a quick return to the ring before the religious fast for Ramadan starts on August 11.

His father Shah confirmed: "If we can get either of the dates, then Amir will fight again in July. It's a short time to get him ready but he wants to fight before Ramadan and then have a proper long break before his next bout in the autumn. His coach, Freddie Roach, has said he wouldn't mind facing Katsidis next."

Lightweight Katsidis would have to step up a division but could expect a purse of around £400,000 - the fee Malignaggi was paid for fighting Khan.
Roach said: "Amir will have a couple of weeks off then we will start training again. If his next opponent was a major, major star, then the end of July would be too soon.

"Khan's stamina is extraordinary and he has no problem meeting the heavy demands we put on him in training. Twelve rounds is not a problem for him."
Malignaggi faced a battering when referee Steve Smoger ended the fight 1min 25secs into the 11th. Khan landed 24 more jabs alone than the total of 127 punches Malignaggi managed.

The Bolton belter said: "I controlled the fight with my jab and stuck with the game plan until Freddie let me off the leash late in the bout.
"Not too many people can box and fight Malignaggi. I did both and think my style won the American fans over."

Khan's plan is to unify the light-welterweight division before moving up to welter then light-middleweight.

Roach insisted "Amir can be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world but it will take another five years to get him to that level.

"As for now, he can beat any other fighter at 140lbs - just line them up and watch Amir knock them over."

With Maidana out of the picture for the time being I think this is an excellent fight. It will help answer some question's about Khan's chin if not all. My only concern would be fighting so soon.

Seriously. People like you will never be satisfied. One it's fight a puncher, the next it's this. EVERYONE wants Khan to fight a puncher and fighting Katsidis who just KTFO of Mitchell and who is known for his KO power would be absolutely no disgrace.

And on top of that having it so soon? That's due respect to a guy everyone was writing off.

Seriously, consider the other things :patsch

Grrrr. Poor Khan. I think he really need to fight Maidana, Alexander and Bradley all in one day to get the haters off his back. Seriously what did this guy do to have so many haters ? As an American who has just recently begun to follow his career I don't get it. Cherry picking doesn't cut it, many more fighters who have done far worse. He has not attained elite level success that makes people go green with jealousy like Pac or PBF. Then what is it ?

Why doesn't Khan fight a light welterweight who can punch is a better question

So to prove this they're going to sign to fight a lightweight that has a one-sided loss to Juan Diaz. :nut

Funny thing is, it was just a question. You Khan fans or on the verge... a lot of fanaticism for an unproven fighter. He needs to fight a light-welterweight, period. Very few knowledgeable boxing fans gave Malignaggi much of a chance to win; Khan fought well but didn't prove much. Khan is a 5'10 light-welter trying to pick on a 5'7 lightweight. Just because Kastidis can punch, doesn't mean they're not cherry picking. Maidana is a puncher too.

Moreover, I couldn't care less who he fights/doesn't fight. Khan is not even in a position to earn 'haters' yet. My observation is unbiased.

there were talks of Khan v Mitchell before the weekend, maybe they thought if mictehll won and so did khan then both them meet ina british clash, but since he lost, i don't see katsidis a bad match up, katisidis is a excitng fighter, good practice before fighting maidana if he wins and you got give him props if he fights in july
