As a self confessed Calzaghe fan, I will state that if he signs to fight Roy Jones Jnr that I will not defend this match. In fact, I would boycott it all together and let some of the other suckers top up Joe and Frank's retirement fund. I've been a big Calzaghe fan since the days of yore but this will be a step too far for me. I don't blame him for cashing in on his position and there will always be big names out there to put in their place (after Pavlik there will be Bute or another prospect) but chasing Jones Jnr is a choice I cannot defend for the good of the sport. It will be a big event and make a lot of cash but it's about as useful to boxing as Allan Green is - a complete waste of column inches.

Message to Calzaghe & Warren - This is a farce too many given the respect that has been hard earned in the last couple of years. Joe deserves more and a fight with Pavlik, Tarver or Dawson (obviously not available now) would have sufficed.

Dawson wouldn't even have a belt if he fought Calzaghe and it's not like he's a PROVEN real deal, so I cannot see how it can be sold to non-hard core fans. Tarver? Hmmm...maybe. Pavlik - definitely! Bute, who is not a prospect but a contender, is also a good choice. Jones Jr is a worse choice than any of these, but not much worse than Tarver, I think.

    1st choice, realistically - Pavlik
1st choice for the hard-core fans - Dawson
2nd choice, for the hard-core fans - Bute
    2nd choice, realistically - Tarver
    3rd choice, realistically - Bute

What, you want to boycott Calzaghe for fighting Roy Jones, but not Manfredo or Sakio Bika?

I will not boycott the fight. I like Cal, but I think he is being spineless for not demanding a fight with Kelly. For those reasons, I would love for RJJ to beat him. That would be a laugh.

I've said it for a while....Warren is the worst promoter in the history of the sport and has turned Joe into a big fat *****....otherwise Joe wouldve fought a prime Toney, Jones, Hopkins, and would be training to fight a prime Pavlik

Think about it....if Joe split with Warren after the Lacy fight or even years earlier

I think that tactically RJJ will cause some trouble so I don't see why Calzaghe fans want to boycott it...stylisitcally, RJJ will cause more trouble than Pavlik too. No...I want to see this fight. Not my favourite, but still good. The problem with Calzaghe is not that he is physically not what he used to be as much as that he has trouble with very intelligent, experienced fighters who can enforce a winning strategy against him, for a couple of rounds. Pavlik cannot do that. RJJ can, just like Hopkins did what Kessler couldn't.

This will be a great exhibition fight and I am looking forward to seeing RJJ KO Calzaqghe. RJJ still has the power and boxing skills. Both fighters are shot and over the hill. Only Americans think JC is still in his prime and should fight Pavlik or Dawson because they want JC to get KTFO.

    The mans onto something:deal
I think most true boxing fans, espescially Joe fans know that Joe is past it and on the decline:good and yes people want to see him get KTFO due to his lack of balls and a wealth of arrogant ignorance:deal

    Cheers:good

I don't think it was Warren that prevented Joe inventing a time machine in order to fight a prime Toney at SMW. Or maybe you think, without Warren's influence he would have followed up beating Eubank by immediately vacating the WBO title and moving to Cruiserweight? Or would he have followed beating Kabary Salem by chasing Toney to heavyweight?

Jones says he was never interested in fighting Calzaghe at that time. I take him at his word. Maybe another promoter may have been able to interest him, but that's really unknown.

Not sure how another promoter would have been able to stop Hopkins turning down the offer to fight Calzaghe and staying at middleweight...
