Based on what we saw from Plant tonight, is there anything you saw that can trouble Alvarez? Also did you see that post fight interview where Plant kept saying "fight on FOX"...who holds sway here?
Does Plant injured right hand explain his performance? If he has a right hand against Alvarez, how dangerous is he?
Caleb Plant possess a style that has given Canelo fits early in his career(ex. Floyd, Lara and Trout). I’m very interested in seeing how well Canelo has progressed against that style.
This guy has some skills, good speed, good foot movement, variety of punches. He just seems tentative and lacks the extra gear to take a guy out when he’s in trouble. I thought there were several instances last night where extra pressure would have probably ended the fight but that’s when Caleb seems to get confused and not know what to do. This will be a problem against an opponent like Canelo who knows how to fight. Also, Caleb seems to lose concentration once in a while and get fought with a solid shot. This is dangerous against an opponent who can punch. In fairness, he never seemed to be bothered by the punches he ate and he didn’t eat too many. I don’t see him beating a guy like Canelo or Bivol (if he decides to fight at this weight as he said he could) but he has the skill to at least win some rounds and make it interesting for a while. I think he’d easily beat Canelo’s last few opponents at the weight (Smith, Fielding). ****, I think the other Caleb from last night could easily beat Fielding. This is not a good weight class. If Bivol can make the weight, he’s the only guy who can beat Canelo and I don’t see that fight happening. BJS is a wildcard. If he ever gets serious like Fury, he has (had?) tremendous potential but boxers his age usually don’t get better with time. He has shown lack of discipline and doesn’t seem to be serious about boxing. I’m not the biggest Canelo fan but I don’t think BJS deserves a fight with Canelo because he hasn’t earned it.
