Plant's strategy for Canelo

While I'm not underestimating Plant like most people, I'm still not sure he wins. I think it comes down to a few factors. If Plant can take Alvarez's power and also hit Alvarez hard enough to discourage him from just walking straight in, he has a chance. Golovkin had success against Alvarez in the first fight because he had the power to keep Alvarez at bay but Alvarez adjusted for the 2nd fight and started walking Golovkin down. If Alvarez can walk through Plant's punches with no problem, I see him pressuring Plant and winning.

Also, Plant CAN NOT get tired. If he does, Alvarez stops him.

The only fighters whose really been effective vs Canelo and didn’t change they’re entire normal fighting style is Mayweather who is one of the greatest fighters ever.. expecting this current crop of fighters to be Floyd or comparing them to him is why Canelo keep embarrassing these fighters. Plant is getting planted although the addition of Ward in camp is interesting

 

I had just watched a Bhop fight prior to that comment and thought Plant could've approached things similar in his fight with Cinnamon.

In hindsight though I was hoping that a chicken could fly like an eagle.

 

Box at range, but it still won't be enough, he doesn't have the power to keep Canelo off, and he doesn't have the boxing ability to time or set up a knockout punch to land on Canelo
Canelo will break him down and most likely stop him late on

 

The Jab is the key. Fient with it, try to draw Canelo's counter over it, then counter Canelo. Maybe disrupt Canelo's ability to counter. Use a powerful jab, like Golovkin. Tie up and walk Canelo back. Disrupt the working space Canelo thrives in. Use lateral movement to keep CA turning. Work and get out of range.

 

Hasn’t got the power to keep Canelo off for 12 rounds, he’ll just walk Plant down. Late stoppage 9-11 for Canelo if I was a betting man.

 

Plant will lose even if Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Nikola Tesla gets together and prepares a wonderful plan and strategy for him. He will lose. Simple.
