    1. How hard is your clenched fist wrapped legally?
    2. How hard is the same fist in 1. with a hard wrap?
    3. How hard is 1. with a glove over the top?
    4. How hard is 2. with a glove over the top?

    I would say:
    1. Fairly hard
    2. Fairly hard but not considerably harder than 1.
    3 about equal to 4

I get the feeling AM was protecting his hands.

Feel your clenched fist. Does it have any give? It is f--king hard already. How much difference does this mythological plastic, plaster, cement, wrap make? Think about it?

This is only for discussion, I am not saying AM was not guilty, because he did break the laws by placing something inside his glove. I am only disputing the reason for the wrap and how much more damage would be inflicted by using it.

Ask Billy Collins what difference it makes.

Concerning Billy Collins, Panama Lewis actually took out the horsehair padding around the knuckle area of the boxing gloves plus dipped the wraps in plaster of paris which added weight & hardness to his hands. It's far different from having a small semi-stiff gauze pad among the bigger knuckle pad of Margarito's hand. That probably only added a little protection for his knuckles and won't deal out significantly more damage.

Either was it was a terrible idea from Capetillo. Dumb to use non-standard wrapping and more dumb to try it against a guy known for causing a fuss and forcing fighters to rewrap their hands in previous fights.
