Play by Play: Jim Lampley

The best there is in boxing today. Lampley is the definition of a professional broadcaster. Can get overly emotional at times, but his voice is the sound track for most of the best fights of my lifetime.

I love lamps. Grew up listening to him on hbo, and him and merchant were awesome. Bernstein may so much more technical knowledge, but lamps and merchantfor that matter, as a team always seemed in sync as well as managed to share their insight through stories, observations that built on your own perception or had you seeing the fighters in a different way. Play by play, I think lamps is the best.

 

He said boom a lot during the cotto fight... I never got why that was a big deal. During the fight, imo, it fit well and wasn't out of place.

 

Can't stand him, but definitely has lots of classic calls/soundbites over the years.

 

Lampley would do a great job. He has the voice and intensity to keep fans on their toes.

 

lampley is the best voice for boxing.......................he has to be doing the play by play for mayweather and pacqauio

 

He varies

Sometimes he's great other times he's pushing a narrative that's just not there

I think Atlas is the same way. Like if a fighter doesn't do what he says in his fight plan he's usually highly critical or negative

 

That's called being human. No one is great all the time.

 

no one is betting then lamps calling a fight his enthusiasm can not be matched
