Lets depict that you are Frank Warren(with you own personality and ambitions). You have this young boxer, Joe Calzaghe, who has just surprisingly dethroned Chris Eubanks. You are aware that you have a fighter with unique qualities and potential. Would you have done pretty much as Frank Warren has done, or would you have done everything differently. Maybe something in between. Easier fights is always good, but what would be your key steps you would have done? Explain why you chose as you do. Play Joe Calzaghes manager in this thread. Btw - I am currently playing a new PC boxing manager game, where I am Frank Warren, and have Calzaghe as my prime fighter(he was 16 as a start and is now 19 and undefeated).
I would have played it exactly has Frank Warren has because my main concern would be making money. As much as I despise the guy he's bloody good as what he does and that is making money.
I remember being surprised that a complete novice like Calzaghe won. Who'd been his best opponent up to that point? Delaney? Collins and Benn had retired, and over the years Ottke and Beyer seemed less than enthusiastic.(and you'd have to be a mug to fight them in Germany) Best bet is to get him over to america and fight on the undercard of a big Oscar fight and showcase his abilities.
Well although there is a 20 page thread about Calzaghe's opposition, it can be said Joe has made a lot of money, been long recognized as a champion, and is in no way shape or form punch drunk. Other than having hardcore analyst and experts giving hell about legacy it could be argued that they played it like geniuses.
Thats a good point. Its only the tiny minority of fanatics like us that give a hard time for his resume. The rest of the world haven't heard of him.:smoke
Yes - quite right. Multi-millionaire Joe Clazaghe, with great kids and a stunning girlfriend is the most pathetic man in boxing. Well done !!!!!!
Put him on ignore mate. His obsession with JC is disturbing to be honest. Whats the point of conversing with somone if they wouldn't know objectivity if it gave 'em a handjob?!
