and pick any fighter in history. Now figure out which fights you would have made and when to make his career even better, increase his legacy, prove his worth, make his career more entertaining, make more money or just amuse you. Whatever. For me, it's gonna be Roy Jones. And if I could have guided his career it would have looked like this... Middleweight: Roy Jones vs Julian Jackson-1993 Super-Middleweight: Roy Jones vs Gerald McClellan-1994 Roy Jones vs Nigel Benn-1995 Roy Jones vs Steve Collins-1996 Light Heavyweight: Roy Jones vs Dariusz Michalzzewski-1997 Roy Jones vs Sven Ottke-1999 Roy Jones vs Bernard Hopkins 2-2001 Roy Jones vs Joe Calzaghe-2002 Heavyweight: Roy Jones vs Lennox Lewis 2003 If THAT was how Roy Jones career had gone and he had won them all...top 3 ATG. But we'll never know. Who's resume would you change?
Joe Frazier 1967- Thad Spencer 1968- Sonny Liston 1969- Leotis Martin 1970- Mac Foster 1971- Can't top Ali 72- Lyle 73- Norton 74- He fought Bugner
good call:thumbsup that would have been a hell of a atheltic, technical fight. two great fighters whose skills are mostly based in natural talent who can hit like monsters
for all the good posts you do, you let yourself down bigtime here. stop ****ing bigging up your british fighters just because you were brought up on them.... damn...im australian and how many people see me jacking off to kostya tszyu, danny green, fenech or anyone else.
haha, well, to be honest i wasn't really raised on british fighters in canada. i am a big fan of a lot of british fights, same as american fighters, japanese fighters and really any good fighter regardless of where they're from. and the super middleweight division in the 90s, which was jones prime, was dominated by the english. i just don't see anyone else that could compete with that group
Tyson! I would give him a good talking to to stop him from going to prison, and then I would have him fight Bowe and Holyfield... Actually, maybe I'd just leave it alone. :smoke
really good, well thought out post. the only small questions i'd raise are: could he have done more work at 130 pounds (ie: morales)? what about tszyu at 140? the thing is when you look at mayweathers pre-135 record it's flawless. there are some things he could have done different from 135-140 and 147 is a work in progress (though he hasn't impressed me there yet). overall though, really good resume. and yeah mosley...****, i can't wait for that one
oh cheers, than yeah pretty much tied up all loose ends. i'm dying to see mosley's though...i know floyd will be there at 135
Joe Frazier post CONTD. 1975- Earnie Shavers 1976- Duane Bobick He retired and came back in '81 but was too far gone.
