They have already had the time to induce whatever benefits they would bring. Steroids or other PEDs need to be taken months in advance of a fight to aid in training and building strength. Traces of such substances tend to linger in the body for a long time and the best way to pass a test is to flush them from the body or to dilute them to the point they are below illegal standards. Yes, there are so called masking agents that hide such things but those are also illegal and tested for today.

Any kind of variance, such as IV solutions, tend to be taken as an indication of cheating unless there is a real medical reason for them. And if there is a medical reason for such an infusion of saline solution, it would generally be a reason serious enough to warrant cancellation of a fight. In the case which this was received, it really cannot be looked at as anything other than a masking protocol.

There are other methods of drug testing that can be done using a strand of hair and there is no way to mask such tests. But they require a strand of hair that is long enough to give a reading over a period of months and few if any fighters grow their hair long enough for such tests to be used.

Rehydration, he was walking dead so probably really needed it, if it was in fact true he used an IV. But some are permitted and some aren't. In Floyd's case, it wasn't permitted and he did it in secret to obviously mask a PED. Floyd was 1lb above fighting weight 30 days before the fight so he never needed to rehydrate.

An important note regarding rehydration, the use of IV's is not markedly effective to properly hydrate a fighter immediately prior to a bout.

Proper hydration also requires time. In cases of serious weight cutting it takes up to 72 hours to properly hydrate the brain. Dehydration can be a significant contributor to traumatic brain injury. It was a factor to move away from same day weigh ins.

This is a lie. He didn't do it in secret. He told USADA beforehand. They gave him a TUE. USADA and NSAC have already said he did nothing wrong
