I've been saying this since the beginning of time. Mosley had super quick hands in his youth but as far as being a great boxer, not at all. He is at best merely good, bolstered by his speed and incredible chin.

Jesus Christ, the guy was an incredible light weight, beat every single person there, moved up TWO WEIGHT CLASSES and beat a PRIME de la hoya, won titles at 154 and DESTROYED Collazo, Vargas, Mayorga and Margarito when he was PAST HIS PRIME. the guy is a hall of famer and an ATG.

:good aside from peds issue, he was a damn difficult opponent. might have been undersized for some of his opponents, sure, but still a very good fighter nonetheless.

Not so much a great boxer anymore (never rated him real high on his actual boxing ability anyway). Mosley is more like the best puncher Pac's faced and his fastest opponent at 147. He might also be the strongest opponent he's ever faced.

    First good boxer?

Mosley's sputtering "power-boxing" isn't even the best boxing Pac will have seen since he started his rapid weight-climbing (remember Cotto?) - let alone his total of 7 combined looks at Morales, MAB, and JMM.

Are you guys insane? Shane fought Mayweather at 38 after a year and a half of inactivity and almost had him out in the 2nd round. A prime Mayweather would be knocked out by a prime Mosley. Floyd hasn't been in there with the same level of comp so the losses show nothing except for the fact that Shane ducks no one.

We all complain on these boards about guys who won't fight and Shane was and sadly still is, willing to fight anybody. He's an ATG, deal with it.

I actually like the that version of Mosley over Pac, but i think Mayweather even beats a prime Mosely.... Hed actually be fast enough to time Pac and eventually Pac will be drawn into a slugfest and i just think Mosely wins that one......

and i dont remember too many people referring to shane as a "Pure boxer". Hes always been more of a slugger first....PUNCHER/boxer.

The casual fan has no clue whether Mosley is a good or great boxer.......all they know is that he beat DLH twice.....

.....apparently, thats how they will try and market and promote this fight, "Mosley is the best boxer Pacquiao has ever fought.":patsch

Hopefully there will be boxing journalists who will slam team Pacquiao for saying what they're saying, but in this day and age where the media goes in the tank in exchange for favors for certain fighters, promoters, etc.....I would'nt count on this happening.

A 40 year old Mosley thoroughly outboxed by Mayweather and who looked just awful vs Sergio Mora is the best boxer Pacquiao has ever faced????
What a pathetic thing to say.

Cheers man, we had a thread going about this lass in the lounge.

Yeah, a loss is not doubt a loss, but if Cotto could only manage a skin of his teeth win over an old declined Mosley then I hate to think what would happen if Cotto fought the Sugar Shane of 2000/2001.

Clearly you didnt see Mosley cleaning out the Lightweight division brutally back in the day !!!! :nono

The guy is a 3 weight world champion and has fought everbody from 35 - 54 worth fighting sometimes twice , at world level ............

You missed a very important part of what Roach and Pacquiao are saying , they are saying that at WW Mosley presents them more problems than any of the others he's fought above 140 , and anyone with half a boxing brain would agree :deal

Oscar 1 was his best performance overall.

Collazo was his best boxing performance.

I am not a big fan of Mosley as a fighter though. Physically, he was a monster in his prime, but I scored the Oscar rematch to ODLH by 5 points (it wasn't even a close fight), and that leaves SSM with a 2-7 record in his biggest fights (wins ODLH 1, Margo vs losses Forrest 1+2, Winky 1+2, ODLH 2, Cotto, Mayweather).

A 2-7 record in your biggest fights is not the record of an ATG.

He also had a hard time twice with Oscar.Oscar won ptII imo.

Mosley never had a good solid jab.I agree,he lost alot of speed over the years since the first fight with De La Hoya.

To me,the only version of Shane that can beat Pacquiao is the Shane who fought Oscar in 2000.Mosley has lost alot in reflex and hand/foot speed since.

And he still doesn't have a jab...

Cant see Shane taking this fight.Lets hope he gives his all(which he will)and make it a good solid hard fought fight.
