Please Explain How anyone can have Calzaghe ahead of Paquiao in the p4p listings???

Its simple. IMO Manny lost his last fight and Joe C won his.
Therefore Joe C @ 2 and Manny @ 3

But he didn't beat him clearly where as Calzaghe beat Hopkins, with or without the knockdown.

Like I said in another thread, you can flip-flop em anyway you want and it's acceptable. As for history, I usually stop at the last 3 fights just to keep things recent. If we were listing "whose beaten who" RJJ would still be a top 5 P4Per.

 

Quite simple.

Calzaghe has never lost, has had a world title belt of some description around his waist for over a decade, has beaten a series of challengers, including recently taking out the #2 and #3 (Lacy and Kessler) in his division, not to mention having done similar throughout the years.

The fact that Marquez should have won the fight against Pacquaio also comes into play, not to mention the fact that P4P wise, Bernard was higher than anyone Pacquaio has beaten.

They're close, you can take it or leave it as far as both of them are concerned but P4P is "undefeatable" fighters for me, at the moment, Pacquaio has been defeated and looked near defeat in his last fight (I scored it a narrow margin to him, most didn't)

 

P4P Ratings should only go on recent history, not overall history

So as a marker, lets take Joe's last 5 fights.

Calzaghe has beaten Lacy, Bika, Manfredo, Kessler, Hopkins

Lacy - #3 in Ring Ratings at SMW, IBF Champion
Bika - #10 in Ring Ratings at SMW at time of fight
Manfredo - #10 Ring Ratings at SMW at time of fight
Kessler - #1 Ring Ratings at SMW, WBC and WBA Champ, Top 15 P4P
Hopkins - Champ Ring Ratings at LHW and Top 6 P4P.

If he faces Pavlik and wins (Pavlik being Champ at MW and Top 10 P4P) then arguing about whether or not he's infront of Paq becomes silly, the real argument then starts on whether or not he's overhauled PBF.

Joe C is interchangeable with JMM and Cotto (though harder to justify) anywhere from 3-5

Pacquiao is simply better than Calzaghe

 

Hence why this is a personal preference rather than one thats taken from Boxrec. THIS IS MY P4P LIST. Officially Pac won his fight with JMM. Fine. Ring Magazine can rate him P4P#2 if they like. No problem. From what I saw JMM won by a slim margin. If a fighter loses and the fighter below him defeats a great fighter in say, Bernard Hopkins, and does so convincingly, then he overtakes the fighter above him. I did the same thing after I watched PBF vs Castillo 1 even though PBF got the decision.

 

Disagree due to Pacquaio's losses and draws, not to mention how many people felt he lost against JMM.

Pacquaio doesn't have a "Kessler" or a "Lacy" in his recent opposition, a young bull tearing through the division. He has old bulls that were on their last legs.

Personally I have Calzaghe behind Pacquiao.. Yes, Calzaghe may have won his last fight clearer than Pacquiao, but JMM was a bad styles match for Pacquiao, but Pacquiao still won despite some of ya'll believing he lost.. Hopkins was 43, out of prime, and acted the whole fight basically.. You can say JMM was in his prime or close, but he isn't shot like BHop is.. I think a win over JMM now is a hella' lot better than a win over Hopkins.. I'll say this, Calzaghe & Pac are very close next to each other in the P4P rankings.. Calzaghe is nearing the end of his career, but Pacquiao is not.. Some people have said Pac's speed and power is declining.. No, it's the bigger and tougher opponents he's facing.. Pac is in his prime and is a way better boxer than what he was years ago.. This post will probably mean **** to the ones who thinks Calzaghe should be ranked higher, but if you want him at #2, then go ahead, but officially, Pac is still ranked #2 and if he makes waves in the lightweight division, he could be #1 since Mayweather is doing nothing but babysitting and wrestling on WWE..

I had Marquez beating Manny both times. That is the reason why I have both Calzaghe and Marquez above him.

pac should be number 2 at least resume wise. people tend to say that pac beat over the hill mexians in barrera and morales even if they were bhop is already 43 years old so isnt he over the hill too? I thought jmm won the second fight too but it was close enought to not call it a robbery and jmmm is still in his prime. Plus how many divisions has pac jumped in weight since becoming pro. Joe C has stayed in middleweight for the last 20 years and only moves up to Light Heavy to fight someone whos 43 years old and gets knocked down in the process

I don't rate Hopkins that highly at 43. I mentioned this before the Calzaghe fight, well before in fact.

And for many, Calzaghe didn't beat Hopkins cleanly. I rate him the same as a badly faded Barrera. JMM is better than Kessler IMO. And in between they both fought contender level fighters in Manfredy and Solis. This gives Pacquiao the edge for me.
