The difference today is that a lot of Americans used that phrase to dismiss beltholders from Europe to underline the so called supriority of American fighters. Recent history has shown that it's ludacris, but a lot didn't want to be bothered by something as unimportant as facts.
Now the higher weightclasses are virtually dominated by boxers from Europe, so the term "Euro class" is used as "World class" nowadays also.

Euro level is where it is all at in world boxing now.

For Europeans to reach the top they often have to travel up the hard way to the the European title, not reginal titles but an official elite belt making a fighter the champion of Europe.

Very few American fighters can travel and compete in the tough European scene, S Cunningham is one of the few who I can think of who is doing well, but he is one of the few.
It seems that alot of the top European fighters get ignored by America, so they end up beating alot of tough competition before getting noticed whilst alot of American fighters are fed easier fights against fighters recognised by America. C Dawson was an example of this, fighting G Johnson and A Tarver twice each. Thats 2 fighters 14-15 years older, one with double figure losses and the other who lost to that double figure losses fighter, which in America made him a P4P fighter. This is how I predicted that Pascal would out point Dawson, as Pascal was fighting a younger tougher fight in Diaconu.

Now look at how the ratings are, even in the very bias Ring magazine

    At -
HW you have 9 out of 11 fighters being European and the 2 American fighters in there have both been exposed more than once by European HWs.

I hope this helps you understand

Headbanger, sorry to have to bother you, but you havent replied to my email and your phone is on voicemail.
The problem is our cleaner has phoned in ill, so do you think you could send SportsLeader down to the Central European Branch to give these toilets a once over.

no such thing to be honest. the euro trolls on here are mad that america gets so much attention that they have to spend their day trying to convince others on here that europe is just as good.

there is no such thing as boxing levels. it's invented spice up the life of boxing. performance is per fighter not per region.

sorry bailey, i've been busy giving a 2 hour lecture in new york on 'the importance of vcash totals'. i will ring sportsleader, though i heard he'd been having real problems trying to get rid of a huge floater from 46and0 at the moscow team elite headquarters, apparently the plunger didn't work and sportsleader had resorted to putting his bare arm around the lavatories u-bend to try and remove the huge log of ****. sportsleader has already worked an hour past his finish time but he won't be going anywhere untill the blockage has been sorted.

as a contingency plan, you may have to take fragile popkins out of the sewer rat dungeon at the team elite central european branch and duck his vile little head down the toilet and use his revolting face to wipe the toilets clean with, makes sure you pour domestos over his face first.
