Now I have my own theorys, I think floyd saw too much risks in fighting cotto, mosley, williams, margarito and even oscar, the welterweight division is loaded with lots of talented fighters who might be able to beat floyd,I can't believe a fighter such as mayweather so talented in his prime and deciding to retire, had floyd beaten cotto margarito, williams and mosley he could've retired and be amongst the top 3 pound for pound ever.

He retired because he became bored with the sport and wanted to do other things. That's why he was doing shows like Dancing With Stars and WWF. Another reason is that he felt he accomplished everything he could in the sport and had nothing else to prove. I can assure you that it wasn't because of fear of the guys you mentioned.

Floyd is my favorite fighter, but I think the man has Attention Defecit Disorder, Just has to much going, starts one thing before he finishes another, and whatever project he does seems to work out for him pretty good, I just think he gets bored and distracted easy. But i have a feeling he will be back, but he better not wait to long, he is his prime now and does want that to pass him by. Theses are some tough fighters in the ww division and if he sits on the shelf to long, they will rip him a new *******.

I think when you have guys like cotto, margarito and mosley out there floyd retiring is questionable, guys like oscar, mosley hopkins have accomplished a lot in boxing and they still seeking challenges, floyd retiring prematuraly will jeopardized his status as an all time great.

Absoloutly correct, Bonao. Except for the most dedicated Jockswingers, most fans will look back at Floyd as a guy with the tools, but also as a guy who retired too early. There were some good wins, like Castillio, Chavez, and Hernandez, and one really excellent win over Corrales. But given the oppertunity to master the toughest division in boxing today, Floyd chose to talk snotty and avoid Williams, Margarito and Cotto. Without a real signature win to his credit, and his horrible personality, he'll soon be forgotten long after people are still talking about his contepmeraries like Paquiao and Barerra, who both fought everybody of any conseqence in their divisions.

I wouldn't be suprised if he came out of retirement for a mega-fight.

If the winner of Margo-Cotto faces DLH then Mayweather may un-retire again to face the last man standing out of those three.

I had a sneaking suspicion this was Floyd's plan from the start. It whittles the main contender's down to one and gives Floyd a prolonged break from the sport which is what he wanted.

However the proposed DLH-Pac fight throws a spanner in the work's. I don't think Floyd thought that fight was possible when he announced his retirement.

    because of this man.....

edit.....but on a serious note, i beleive it was because he wanted more low risk-high wage fights out there....and the only one available was PBF-ODLH II, but after Oscar's last performance failing to convice the public that there was any reason for Oscar to fight the p4p champ, and failing to convice us to buy it....he new that the fight went out the window that night, so he decided to retire, thats what i think

right, at least he should've fought cotto, undefeated welterweight and 99% of all fans would've pay to see them fight, floyd didn't think so.
