The only person you can say he possibly avoided is Margo. PBF was the champion it's not his obligation to go out and make challengers that's why he's called the champ and they're called the challengers, they want what he has. Blame Cotto for never making an offer. Blame Mosley for turning down PBF on an HBO PPV saying he wanted to go on vacation and get his tooth fixed. The thing most of you people never listen when points like these that are brought up you're already biased against PBF so you won't give him the benefit of the doubt. How in the hell could a guy face JLC 2x, Chico G, Hernandez, Oscar at 154 and Hatton but still be scared of Margo, Cotto and Mosley? It's just hating on the man nothing more, mad becuase he didn't fight who you wanted him to fight.

It wasn't because of Cotto ... why would he retire after 12yrs because of 1 guy?

after 20 title fights ... 6 world titles/5 weight classes ... and 15 former champions ... why would 1 man put fear in a man that has did that much?

PBF never ducked or dodged anyone ... Margarito wasn't ducked ... and he will prove that he was nothing but a product of media hype ...

The fight was Cotto, and as long as Cotto does the job expected on Margarito he will be questioned even further for not making that fight before retiring.

He could have rode off into the sunset had he won that fight, and there would have been literally nobody left worth fighting. But as it is, you can question whether he's actually fought an elite welter during his "reign"

Most of Floyds fans are in denial, and I don't mean a river in Egypt. Welterweight is by far the toughest division Floyd ever invaded, and he left before business was finished. It's easy to diminish Cotto and Margarito with words, but Floyd had no desire to try to conquer these guys in the ring.
He would have loved to dance around with Oscar again, because as Forbes showed, Oscar is way past any real serious competition. Cotto and Williams, and Margo are real serious competition and Floyd wanted none of it.

This is what Cotto has to say:

"I can't force anyone to fight, he can choose whatever he wants, but in eight to 10 years, when the press and people see him and ask him to give them one reason why he wouldn't fight Cotto, he will have to answer."

hmm lets see WBO strap ... against a guy who isn't known ... a guy that hasn't fought anyone ... for 8m ....

or fight a guy who beat undisputed champion Zab Judah and Arturo Gatti ... the linear titlist ... the universally recognized undisputed champion ... for 8m + PPV venue + gate ...
against a guy who in one year accomplished more than Margarito accomplished in his who career.

    Who would you rather fight?

There's more money against Baldomir and more prestige ...

Margarito is not on FLoyd Mayweather's level and anyone who says that Floyd was ducking him is a PBF hater.

Anyone who knows boxing knows that PBF is overall better talent and would get no credit for beating a guy like Margarito.
