    Apparently, it's on!

I don't even know where to start with thinking about how this fight will go.

JM Marquez, one of my absolute favourite fighters and a man in sensational form.

Floyd Mayweather Jr, one of the most skilled boxers of the past 20 years.

Floyd will rightfully start as hot favourite, but my question is: do you think Marquez has a live and realistic chance?

If YES, then why do you think so?

If NO, then why don't you think so?

Please give full answers dudes, let's have a proper discussion on this.

(please leave out all the usual playground insults and bull****)

I think it'll be a desperately boring fight tbh... and there's no way I can see JMM winning.

    No.

Too put it simply, he's the smaller man by a mile and he's going to have to pressure Floyd which isn't really his game.

He also doesn't have the defence to stop Floyd landing.

It'll be a very comfortable decision, presuming Floyd's body hasn't broken down since December '07.

of course he can, marquez aint nobodys tune up, not even floyds....
i dont think this is a cherry picking type of fight, as long as floyd keeps his word that he's using marquez to set up a huge fight at 147, then it's cool......

The best way I see marquez winning is if Floyd comes in real rusty.. A fighter like Floyd is all about timing and this long layoff can certainly have an affect in that department..

Floyd taking on MArquez without any tuneup is a bold move and i give him credit for that. At least he's not wasting any time here..

Floyd and his people might think that Marquez IS the tuneup, but boy are they wrong..

    Marquez is nobody's ****in tuneup.

I agree with everything you've said, except I think Marquez will be stopped within 8 rounds. PBF is a bigger, stronger, more defensively and technically sound fighter than Pacquiao. Marquez has done phenomenally with his skill set, which would possibly nullify a lot (not all) of PBF's advantages if it weren't for the fact that Mayweather's so much bigger.

Skill without athleticism can only take you so far....

He could but a lot of things must happen:

1- He has to suddenly develop the best jab in boxing.

2- Floyd has to struggle beyond belief in his preparation for this fight

3- Inactivity will have to cause Floyd to become more cautious and prone to dropping rounds.

4- A lil luck with the judges

Realistically I don't believe so....just b/c JMM is moving up in weight for the first time to WW or 145. I doubt he'll be able to perform like he did at 130 and 135 where that is his natrual weight class. Many might think that since PAC did the move up in weight without a hitch that Juan will be able to do the same. I don't think so. Skill wise he has the tools to cause Flouyd problems...but Floyd is faster and overall a better boxer. For JMM to win he'll need to make Floyd FIGHT! JMM is a better fighter...has more grit and that's what he'll need to win....unfortunately Floyd being bigger and faster he'll take that away edge JMM has. I don't think there is a realistic chance for JMM unfortunately.

Floyd's skills are superior to JMM. Floyd also is the bigger, stronger, and better athlete.

It's very difficult to see how Floyd can lose this fight.

I guess alot of you havent boxed before but long layoffs and rust can make a huge impact on a fighter.. Yes Floyd is great but his inactivity can't be ignored.

Marquez certainly has the momentum on his side.
