Please Help: Is Saul Canelo Alvarez As Good As They Say ?

Hyping up Canelo for November... huh Cellz! That is soo transparent cellz.. You aint slick brah! :nono

 

Canelo is a good fighter, but has never been close to being tested. Mosely is an old beaten up fighter that will posess no threat to Canelo. Canelo isn't anything special regardless of what people are saying. He has good speed, shady defense, nota busy or effective jab, staright right hand is nothing special, the only real punch he has is a let hook, and uppercut. His chin is suspect, and he can't fight backing up. He does all things ok at best, but as I said before, he hasn't been tested by any means. The freckles, light skin, red hair and good looks has made a name for him as well as good marketing. He may develop, but fighting a shot naturally smaller Mosely will either do nothing for him or expose his true talent.:?:?:?:?:?:?:?:?:?:?

 

He's not the next DLH but he will be considered proven elite in the next 5 years I believe. He's gonna burn out in his late 20's though, way too many fights too early. Body is going to break down, especially if he gets into a war.

Vargas was done at like what 24 25?

 

The difference is that Canelo has been matched carefully, his level of competition has been increased gradually so he can grow up as a boxer little by little. Vargas was fed up to the wolves too quickly, how old was he when he fought Trinidad? 21yo? A good example of a great prospect ruined by pushing him too much too soon

Power = A
Stamina = B- (and possibly suspect - he comes in very thick)
Speed = B+
Timing = A
Accuracy = A
Defense = B
Chin = B+ (severely tested by Cotto's brother in a round & survived)
Footwork = A (maintains great spacing for maximum punching power)

Definitely adds up to an A caliber champion. The problem is his resume isnt fully complete, haterz forget he's just a young guy and still needs to work on getting upper echelon ring experience. Whats important is that he easily outclasses any gatekeepers and B caliber fighters, this says he's of A caliber / champion stock.

Offensively, he's a Control Puncher. He's patient and provides gradual and even pressure w/ heavy, accurate & timed punching. His punching style is phenomenal to watch because of the array of punching angles and techniques he strings together in combos and burst attacks. No one seems to be able to fully negate that offense, and a couple seems to slip thru the defense. He really sits on his punches.

Defensively, he's above average. Not much for head movement, he keeps his chin tucked at least. Has shown he can take a pretty good punch.

4 his age hes good. 22 i think. he got a few names on his resume nothin special but we will see soon see enough wut he really is. after the mosley fight he will get a tuff fight.
