Why do people always bring up Mike Tyson saying he broke his back?

He said that after he knocked out Clifford Ettienne in less than minute.

Going into the fight, they weren't sure if the fight would take place. Tyson was supposedly sick, getting facial tattoos, partying it up, and Ettienne supposedly had to be ordered by his wife to go through with the fight.

Jim Gray asked Tyson what all this mess was going into the fight, and Tyson said he broke his back.

It wasn't an excuse for losing or a poor performance.

 

Worst one I've heard is Teddy reid's excuse as to why he lost to Ben Tackie. Mother****er said it was because the weather affected his performance (the fight took place inside and arena)
