I still support Alexander Alexeev who recently lost to an unknown Argie named Ramirez.
Alexeev had fought as if he had been from another dimension. He seemed to be on the way to capture the golden throne of glory and fame- a sure bet.
Well,he ran out of gas against Ramirez and had to pay the price for trying too hard to take out an durable opponent in the early rounds of their encounter.
I still think that he is something special who could reign the cruiser weight divsion for a quite long period of time. I still believe in him.:thumbsup

Most of them I like and respect more after. I am not sure why. If they can take a loss and fight on it shows they can be at the bad end of a fight and still respect the game and themselves enough to be good again and learn. Sort of like life. If you see someone with a problem and they fight the problem and do well inspite of it, then you gain a certain respect for that person. I think anyway.

For sure! The really good ones always come back stronger; that's why they're liked more. And...the not so good ones...well, they aren't as cocky/exclusive/precious/presumptuous/greedy/protected/hyped...

    spot on.

and vargas was very young when he fought oscar and tito in boxing terms.

vargas was carved out of stone and genuine value for money.

Recently, Collazo from the Berto fight. Although he does run his mouth whenever he gets the chance to say he should have won the Hatton fight,!, i liked the way he fought against Berto. So congrats.

Although my opinion went down on both Puerta Rican fighters when they lost.

Cintron v Martinez, no longer am i Kermit fan i once was.

Cotto v Margarito, i could have sworn going into that fight that i hated Margarito. Turns out hes one of my favourite foregin boxers, plaster of paris or no plaster of paris

Yeah, Cotto's perseverance after losing to Margarito is impressive. He knows he lost and still he is planning to fight the best, which could get him in the position to lose again. Cotto's fearlessness is rare. Most fighters pick and choose more than he does, and picking and choosing the right style does seem to help a guy survive boxing in the long run.

    Chris Eubank.

I always thought he was an arrogant imbecile, till he lost to Collins. Then I saw the heart, the bravery, the ability he showed against Calzaghe and Thompson when he was years past his prime, and I realized what a true warrior the guy was. I hunted down all his old fights on dvd and watched them after the Thompson fights, and only then did I see how amazing he was at middleweight around 1990. He is one of my favourite fighters now, the public persona just put me off at the time, plus I was a big Nigel Benn fan, and Benn loathed him.

Yep I totally agree. The problem is he will probably lose to the wrong style while a guy like Floyd picks guys after the storm cloud lifts. Floyd is just waiting for Pacman or Shane to be the last man standing, to fight that guy and win and look like he won it all. I guess Cotto is not in the position to pick and choose, but he never did. Cotto has a certain intense way of fighting which stands out more than any other fighter. Imagine if Mike Tyson had the mental strength of Miguel Cotto? Not saying Mike is not strong mentally, but it seems like Miguel is unique in that way.

yeah Hatton is a good pick also. He got right back into boxing and fought some good fighters and was not shy to do it. That is why a Hatton/Cotto fight is so interesting. Both guys come to fight and fight the best.

Malignaggi after the Cotto fight - the dude was a complete tool and i couldn't stand him but he showed a ton of heart as Cotto beat the **** of him round after round. He's probably still a tool but the kid has some balls.

Also gained more respect for JT after losing to Pavlik
