I guess sallywinder realised logical arguments are better than misplaced nostalgia - lol at 1919 boxing
I've noticed that most Mundine nuthuggers here will sometimes jump testicles to swing off Floyd Mayweathers nuts for a while. Now Floyd is not my favourite guy in the world but I can't deny he is legitimately in the top 2 or 3 pound for pound. What he does have in common with Mundine though is an atrocious public persona and to a much less degree the reluctance to truly test himself (at least at welterweight). My question is what attracts people to these kinds of personality. I suspect it's sexual. I mean Mundine is a minnow in the world of boxing. Worldwide that is. Yet we have an English guy on here spouting the same **** over and over. Why would an English guy be interested in an Aussie boxer who has not fought anyone of international significance for 5 years? It can't be from a boxing standpoint.........
Straight up question then 20a87 - So by your statement highlighted, your saying modern day heavyweights are better and a higher calibre than Ali??? If this be the case, I think you are way off the beam and to be frank, showing your age as a 'young' fan of boxing or sports, which on one hand is is great that your a fan, but your showing a big lack of knowledge and respect for achievements of yest e year heroes. I would like to think your a little off in your meaning and with respect, champions of the past are just as good as modern day, it's just a case of different era's. The Jeff Fenech of the 80's would be just as good as any world champion thru Bant / S/Bant / F/Weight today if he was training and performing under today's modern technology and opportunities. Please don't kid yourself that yesterday's champions aren't as good as today's.
Especially when the Ali era of heavyweights were goin at it for 15 rounds, yet the current mob seem to just about gas out around the round 8 mark.
a) floyd is p4p#1 b) Arrogant sportsmen are the greatest naz, cantona, zidane, mundine, pbf, calzaghe, ali, leonard etc etc c) strange train of thought you have
The best of today beats the best of yesteryear. Different eras is exactly my point, I'm not trying to take away from anyone's achievements but they have to stay in the context they were achieved in.
a) no he's not b) You're off your rocker to mention Mundine in that company c) I know but explain why you are attracted to Mundine when he has not fought in England or done anything significant other than in domestic Australian boxing?
I think it's fair to say we agree to disagree. If you think either of the Klit's, of more so David Haye beats Ali, please, that's dreaming! Respect your posts, but can't agree. :bart
I think attracted is the wrong word, but i'm a fan because i caught one of his fights after him and calzaghe were exchanging words in the press and I happen to enjoy his showboating, his arrogance and skills so I watched all of his fights and now I want him to beat up on pavlik is that ok? - weirdo
Aping Ali might be fun, but Ali was practising his brand of entertainment against some of the scariest men on the planet and possessed enormous amounts of wit and charm. Mundine can barely string a sentence together and fights guys that you will probably never hear of again.
